This thread must be a wind up?

I like Groves a lot, sensible talker, not cocky or arrogant. His popularity will only increase.

Groves to me comes across as a bit dull. The way he tries to copy and be cool like David Haye is cringey. James DeGale mentioned it in the build up to their fight. I thought at the time it was DeGale just using immature name-calling for trash talk but now I realise what he was getting at.

Being with Adam Booth has Groves acting like Robin to Haye's Batman whilst Booth is Alfred. Needs to come out of his shell a bit more if wants to become a huge star.

Groves is just being himself I don't see the problem he seems pretty down to earth and normal, he doesn't shoot his mouth off too much like some other fighters do that have achieved less than him in the sport. He's not an infectious personality like Ali and he doesn't really have it in him to play the bad guy so he just is who is, when he was asked about all of us taking the **** out of his shirt and tie combos he took in good spirits and said he was repping for people that wear mad ties so he gets the banter. He'll do ok in the sport I don't think he's too worried, he'll win a world title but he'll get knocked out at some point too in my opinion, he carries power though which makes him exciting to watch.

I'd agree with that to an extent, but I think he's been coming out of his shell a bit as of recent, his recent iFilm interviews have been understated and good. No bollocks, just showing who he really is now. I like the lad.

Where and when do the casual fans get to see his humour or interviews with Ifilm, and read his blogs..?

    They don't.

I can see groves being a huge star over here. He is what the british public like he comes across in interviews as quite an intelligent down to earth man. Hes also got the style of fighting that puts bums in seats. Id much rather here him in a interview than Carl Frock talking about how he is a warrior.

I think he certainly has a personality, plus he's the "blue guy"

don't know what the OP is getting at, Groves certainly has a presence and he always makes me sit up and take notice for whatever reason

and let's be honest, he's good enough and has the style to let his fists do the talking, he's not a horrfic bore like Malignaggi who has to use on over the top brash personality to get attention

well....no but groves was more well known as degales rival/friend/sparring partner coupled with his david haye affiliations and booth being a fixture on most boxing related British media.

he is relatively talented/athletic but with a lot of creativity and shot choices. that body shot last night that dropped his man was real sweet shot from a hard to read angle. same with the smith ko we all thought it was a body right till he turned it over.

he boxes well even though it does look disjointed. which i think on tv goes a long way. a smooth looking fighter looks better on tv than the way groves fights.

I don't think he's that far off from being as big as Froch in this country.

To be fair to Groves & Booth, people moan that fighters are being moved to slow then after a lesser performance/defeat we hear the same old "British fighters are being moved to quick". I think Groves is being moved along and handled well, we've seen improvements and different qualities in his game in basically every fight.
