Could Britain ever become the 'home' of boxing?

Lets say someone built a mega arena in central London with big casinos surrounding it just like in Vegas, could we ever host the world mega fights or will they always be in America?

I know the American TV money brings a lot to the table, but what else will we need to have so we could compete with America for the mega fights to ever be hosted here?

    No, never.

It's not as simple as trying to replicate what they have. Population, revenue, area and a built-up reputation over hundreds of years along with a lot of other things is what makes the difference.

Hundreds of years?we colonised the ****in place for a start off.their so called mega
arenas are smaller than ours.the bottom line is their gene pool is bigger, and most big fights involve them against them.we could put on far bigger and better shows on here if it were our fighters involved.we have the history not the yanks.

The casinos are really only needed for the massive superfights.

It's the HBO/Showtime money that makes the US the place to be. Plus for the massive fights you need the PPV money. They sell million odd for Pac and Floyd at $60/$70. If PPV prices here went above £20 there'd be an uproar.

I beg to differ there as we were the 'home' from Figg to arguably Sullivan's claim...

It's already more of a home to boxing than the US is currently. They might have better fighters and far more champions than us and everyone else but at the end of the day the lifeblood of the sport is the fans, not the fighters necessarily. Look at the atmospheres you get at the big shows here in Europe, especially our UK shows. They put the US in the shade in terms of passion and electricity.

You get better atmospheres and more passionate fans at the average British title fight than at the average US prize fight. Eddie Hearn and Kugan Cassius said that when they went over to Atlantic City they couldn't believe how lifeless the event was compared to the shows they do back at home. Boxing in the UK is alive and well.

US Boxing is slowly dying IMO and needs radical change, Bute/Pascal will probably make more money than what Ward/Dawson did whilst Froch/Kessler will eclipse it, that is a sign of the times.

I think Sauerland and Matchroom should merge and take on GBP and TR to make Europe Boxing's home.

The US relies on Mexico for it's talent-pool and fanbase, start poaching the best Mexican talent and you're half way there.

wich mega fights? only mayweather makes mega fights in america the rest is not bigge than in UK or germany!
the biggest problem is that the best boxers want to fight in america because you can make the most money there! but the events are not bigger (4500 people watching broner:patsch).

How does having more passionate fans make you the 'home' of boxing?
Quality and frequency of product are the key.

Ignoring the petty chauvinism of a wide boy like Hearn, which nation has the gravitational pull in terms of fighters wanting to 'make it' there? Even our own fighters continue to see it as a hallowed final destination.
