As much as I think he is a **** gobbler....Mundine did get people talking about boxing again and put bums on seats. Although there were a few suspect fights at fans expense.

The Vic paper the Heraldsun used to have zilch boxing columns or reports...now there is something nearly every week.

Just having a WT doesnt mean one has accomplished more than Mundine in Green in terms of boxing. Its a sport of Entertainment and both these guys blow Geale out of the water when it comes to Entertainment. We dont see the money they earn no doubt but its their Entertainment value we all get to see, Geale just dont seem to have the same pulling power nor does he Entertain like these two guys do.

Its ok to be Mr Nice guy in boxing but that only really works for guys like KT because of his entertainment value in knocking people out. Geale dont have a bad bone in his body so he cant play the bad guy, he cant knock people out as he lacks the power and is a boxer that wins his fights in the volume of punches he throws, yes he has skills but they arent flashy enough to be of much entertainment value like lets say a Mayweather.

Thats my take on it, like it or hate it. And i agree with Whipper, boxing was all but dead in this country until Mundine put it back into the media.

If you want to get technical, yes it does.
    No. It's a sport.
Sure, it is entertaining, but first and foremost it's a sport.

    A circus is entertainment.
    Boxing is a sport.
Actually they don't in the boxing ring. It's only the BS they both speak to the media which of course gets passed on to the public, twisted and contorted to sell it.
    Geale simply doesn't BS.
Daniel is a boxer, not an entertainer.
A sportsman. Not a circus act.
You bet your ass it is.
I don't agree. KT was in the media because he was amongst the best.
Daniel may get there, don't forget, it's still early days.
Perhaps not, but if he beats Sexy, watch his stocks and media attention rise.

In a nutshell, I think Daniel has achieved much more than both Green and Mandy for BOXING.

If you want to include circus acts, then yes, the other 2 are in front.

We all need to remember boxing is a sport...

I said he's achieved more as far as boxing is concerned. A 2 time world champion defending his IBF title 4 times compared to a guy who has never had a legitimate belt and a guy who had one but never defended it. Mundine did raise boxings profile in Australia greatly that's true.

It wasn't pretty much dead" - that's pro-Mundine propaganda. Mundine has made that claim far too many times and his braindead nuthuggers continue to repeat it.

We just didn't have any world champs at the time - Fenech retired in the early to mid 90s, Tszyu had become inactive.

No doubt if Mundine hadn't come along, our next world champ would have renewed interest.

So congratulating somebody is being a cheer leader... Green may not be an all time great but he has been in some good entertaining fights over the years and good on him for making a good living in a dangerous sport, he got the general sporting public in to boxing which was great for the sport, he had a few mismatch's that weren't good for boxing but you got to take the good with the bad IMO...

Geale will never reach the heights of Green & Mundine as the general public does not give a **** about him because he is boring...

Franny dobbed to the mods and got me a week or so ban for that thread. Don't know what's worse. Franny's base less snitch effort or the mod that went along with it.

I disagree Geale-Sturm was more exciting than any Green fight I have seen for a long time though I haven't bothered watching Siaca or Santiago. Geale-Mundine was a exciting, evenly matched fight. Best fight Mundine has been in since Soliman II though I don't even bother watching most of his fights even on my computer after they happen.

Sox, boxing is a sport of entertainment. People dont box for the sake of it, they box to entertain and to gain money. I get what your saying but if you can box everyones ears off and you cant entertain at the same time your worth is not very much in the sport of boxing. Your only worth the amount of bums you can put in seats and PPV sales you can sell, sadly that is the sport of boxing.

Considering the vast majority of boxers barely scrape in a few hundred dollars per fight, I hardly think money is the driving force. There are far easier ways to make money.
As for entertainment, I doubt many have 'pleasing the audience' on their mind when entering the ring to beat the crap out of their opponent.

You think boxers like Bob Mirovic and Colin Wilson were fighting for the coin well into their pension years?

If we add amateurs in the mix, it's even more lopsided. What's their driving force?
There is no money, and usually not much of an audience.
Plenty never go pro. You didn't, so what was your motivation?

Boxers box for the love of the sport.
Dollar wise, sure, but we were talking about boxing accomplishment. $$ mean **** when it comes to boxing legacy.
Sure, if $$ are the only driving force - Mandy for example.
Thank **** not all fighters are like Mandy.

Which is why he has no legacy, and Geale already has.

Do you enjoy watching paint dry??

Geale v Sturm was like watching two sissy's slap each other for 12 rounds

Green v Wlod, Delisle, Tarver, Cameron, Lucas, Mundine, Flores were all more entertaining than anything Geale has produced...

Even Greens early fights against Smallman & Burke were entertaining as he smashed the **** out of them...
