Dude he is 48 years old...let that sink in 48 years old..and just beat the #3 light heavyweight in the world who is 17 years younger......what have you done in your life?

He was forced to fight Dawson? The rich, old guy that could retire any time he wanted and chose to fight Dawson not once but twice-CHOSE-only did so because he was forced. Does that sound like it makes a tremendous amount of sense to you, X? I'm not a fan of Hopkins but no one cares if someone so clearly biased isn't impressed.

 

Hopkins must be great if people are giving him shot for beating up a world champion 17 years his junior

There weren't exactly a lot of better options out there for him in terms of champions besides Cloud at Light Heavyweight. No one wants to see Dawson/Hopkins III. Nathan Cleverly and Beibut Shumenov have zero name value in the US, though Cleverly might be a good next fight to make in the U.K to go for some belt unification. Cloud isn't a world-beater by any means(as the Campillo fight showed), but he is a decent champion and was the best option if Hopkins wanted to fight a Light Heavyweight champ. And Calzaghe didn't have a particularly good style for BHop either, but Hopkins still made the fight, as he did with Dawson. I wouldn't call the win particularly surprising to a knowledgeable fan but he deserves props for beating Cloud clearly all the same at the ridiculous age of 48.
