If Thompson can pull off the upset again... ****ing hell. Fighter of the year could be a stretch but he'd be looking good for heavyweight of the year. It would catapult him right up to 3rd in the division if he beat Wilder. Probably second because I'll take Vitali out of my rankings pretty soon if he doesn't get a fight sorted out It would be so funny if he did it again. He'd have to fight Povetkin next and take a huge **** all over the division for the next **** knows how many years .
A very real possibility :verysad That said. the heart goes with Wilder but the mind chooses Thompson.
I don't know about that... I'd still have Wilder a favourite going into the Thompson fight. You can be sure he won't take it lightly after the Price upset, and fights generally end up as they're meant to.
I suppose another recent example of two upsets in a row from an old, supposedly shot gatekeeper would be the Tua-Barrett fights. Building up to the rematch I thought Tua would pull himself together and get rid of Barrett, but it wasn't to be. Whatever happens with Thompson-Wilder (if it happens) I like that guys like Monte Barrett and Tony Thompson managed to finish off their careers with big wins
I'll be rooting for Thompson, but I think Wilder will be prepared and ready for him. After seeing what happened to Price, I don't think he'll make the same mistake. Price had his hands down at times. A bit reckless. Wilder by crazy KO!
Why do people think Wilder would beat Thompson? Step up is far too big,Wilder has been crushing cans for basically his entire career and it will show when they fight,Thompson by brutal knockout.
How can you prepare for someone like Thompson when you spar out of shape bin men and fight nothing but bums?
Not sure how you can say that at this point? If Wilder can take a slap from Thompson and last longer than 2 rounds he is better than Price. Price was so over hyped on here the guy is awful. One of the worst Chins I have ever seen.
This. Wilder is hiding a glass chin, as soon as he steps up against a live body he'll get knocked out
Thompson has stood up to some monster shots from Wlad and basically didn't even flinch when Price unloaded on him, does Wilder hit any harder than Price? doubtful,I'd say they were pretty much level.Thompson wins via brutal knockout after Wilder lands and starts to show boat,Thompson takes him out when he's attempting the Ali shuffle with those pathetically skinny legs.
This was horrible matchmaking by Price's people. It would be pretty hilarious for Wilder's people to make the same mistake immediately after it was illustrated as being a horrible mistake. There are plenty of vets with decent records who aren't as dangerous as Tony Thompson.
