Stupid thread...it always depends on who the journeyman is they are fighting. If it's against one who can give a good scrap in A loss, then most likely go with that one.
Not necessarily, but in this scenario, both guys are being put in with journeyman with zero shot. Why would I want to see Ward vs Allen Green when I can see Broner vs Escobedo lol?
It basically comes down to this: - Ward = the better all round fighter, very unlikely to lose, seems like a decent guy so doesn't really irritate that many people - Broner = more chance of seeing a KO, small chance of losing (has more flaws than Ward), comes across as a complete dick which makes many people want to see him lose Ultimately I wouldn't watch either against a journeyman. I rarely watch any fight that I know to be a complete mismatch. If they were taking on world class opposition I would probably watch Broner because Ward is on another level to his peers, and could grind out an ugly but technically exceptional win against any of them, I don't really see any surprises there - so it's not that exciting. Broner still has quite a few question marks over him, and has looked beatable (and arguably been beaten) already - so there is much more chance of seeing a decent, interesting, competitive fight. That's the same reason I watch Khan, except we know what Khan's weaknesses are, but no one can ever say when they are going to be exposed again - if he can avoid the KO he can give anyone a run for their money.
I enjoyed Ward's last fight against Dawson, probably because he was more aggressive than usual but still very technical. I also like him on commentary and fight him easier to support as a human being. Broner however is more exciting. Just walks in and hammers away with hooks and uppercuts. He might try and be a Floyd knockoff in terms of persona, but stylistically he isn't that similar. If both were fighting at the same time, I'd watch whoever was in the more competitive, interesting fight. If both were fighting cans though, I'd watch Broner.
Ward if he has to can stink out a fight. If he is out gunned in a certain area he knows how to maul and grind down a fighter. Constantly turn and tying him up and a few head butts here and there. I wanted him to win but I was not happy about the way he fought Kessler. I voted Broner.
Ward is good to watch in competitive fights, but if it's beating on some journeyman Broner gets my vote. He's class.
I miss as little boxing as I can. If there are 2 shows on, I tend to get drawn towards the lighter weights (not too light though) as they are my favourite. But I also really enjoy watching Ward. Would all come down to the opponent and what kind of mood I was in that night.
Ward is just as offensively exciting with his offensive bursts and dissects his opponents thoroughly, you learn something watching Ward. The only edge Broner really has in excitement is that his opponents end up unconscious more often. Um, no. Broner is fun to watch but what he does is not complex. The end result so far is that he's going to hit his opponent with a hard shot and follow up with good combinations. Ward takes away your best weapon, controls the ring, and tailors his offense to the weaknesses he sees and creates. His offense is blitzing.
exactly, if they are fighting a journeyman why would you want to see them outboxing them, id wanna see a ko
