Foreman was just strong and that's that.

Wach could probably bench a lot but cant punch thru a wet paper bag. Wilder hits hard but would lose a shoving match against Golovkin.

    None of it's connected.

But you were weak to begin with.

And you idolize Mike Jones, so you must prance around the ring like a homo.

This is so true. Another thing to consider is that most of the people I see "bench pressing" don't even lower the weight much more than half way to their chest. A true, full range of motion, raw bench press at 600 lbs is an incredible feat that only a select few have ever done. There is no way in hell Maidanos comes close to 440 lbs. with a true raw bench. If he could do a real raw bench with 315 lbs. I'd be very impressed. 315 lbs is a big weight for his size.

True, although he has long arms he may struggle.

I bet Seth Mitchell has a big bench press, most american football players do.

Obviously Wladimir probably by a country mile. Wlad looks like a comic book character. Probably wouldve been a better Bane than Tom Hardy.

considering the non-shirted raw BP record is 715 lbs, and had not really moved up much in the last 20 years....anyone benching 600 plus raw is the elite of the elite. It is very rare. Anyone benching 2-2.5 times their bodyweight could compete at the wprld class level in raw powerlifting....some of the numbers being tossed around aren`t believeable. Some are though.

From the number of animated posts on this thread, should I conclude every fighter incorporates bench presses now?

In my day -- the Stone Age -- nobody did them, 'n we weren't in short supply of ATGs.

  13. John I dont think all boxers lift weights, some still are against it for example, I doubt Hopkins, Floyd,, Judah, Ward are the types of fighter who use weights, definately not regularly, but more modern style boxers like Haye, Khan, Bradley have definately and probably regularly lift weights.

I don't understand the point of lifting heavy weights, BK, unless you're a brawling physical fighter. Doesn't matter if you're big as a T-Rex, ifya haven't the disposition to impose your physical strength -- like Bruce Seldon who skittered around the ring behind stay-away jabs.

  15. I believe in the old saying that your born a puncher, do you JG? Malignaggi could push the heaviest weights in the world but will never punch like Hearns who probably never touched a weight in his life!

Most guys do it to enhance there punching power/strength although I think there are a lot of uneducated coaches out there who aren't doing there fighter any good, but for example David Haye lifts weights and I believe he has good coaches and it would of enhanced his power slightly.
