There wasn't anthing ridiculous about Mayweather and Marquez fighting each other since it was Marquez who actually called Mayweather out on national TV(HBO)following his February, 2009 knockout over Juan Diaz and said that he wanted to fight the REAL #1 PFP fighter in the world referring to Mayweather, who mind you at the time was still officially retired.

And as far as everybody's favorite topic on that fight is concerned in Mayweather coming in two pounds over the agreed upon catchweight limit of 144lbs. It was just two pounds, which was over the catchweight limit, not four, six, nine or ten pounds, just two. And mind everybody it was two pounds over catchweight and still one pound beneath the divisions limit of 147 and furthermore lets be real Floyd after coming in at 146 and paying J.M.M. $600,000 total for the extra weight out of his own pocket rehydrated to his usual weight of 150-151 for the actual fight and didn't committ the same type of coming in over the weight division foul like Gatti did Gamache in 95' with Gamache getting crushed in just two rounds by a 20-pounds over the 140 lb limit Gatti and suffering serious injury before recovering and retiring, or Joan Guzman deliberately coming in 9 pounds over the 135 limit with a major world title on the line for his rematch with Ali Funeka. Floyds fight with JMM, after the financially resolved catchweight issue, was clean and fair and it went the full distance with Marquez after losing to "Money" May still being able to come all the way back to eventually beat Pacquiao.

On the original topic, if it's actually true, G.B.P. offering JMM a fight at 154 against a full-fledged Jr.Middleweight in Canelo Alvarez is a disgrace. Canelo needs to concentrate on just being ready to at least look fairly good in his upcoming April 20th fight with Austrin Trout, a fight that I for one am already predicting is going to follow a ceratin exact script that was back in December, 1999 on HBO when a young unbeaten Fernando Vargas fought a young future champion Winky Wright with Winky controlling most of the action with his solid southpaw jab and impressive lateral movement before losing what many like myself thought was a close controversial majority decision to Vargas, which was right before Vargas' big money showdowns with Felix Trinidad and Ike Quartey. Trout is going to implement a blueprint almost as similar to Canelo in a ring that's going to be fairly shorter than usual for Trout and in San Antonio, Texas before the fight goes the full distance with Canelo winning a close majority or split decision so that GBP can set him up for the big September 14, PPV showdown with Mayweather. Yes Mayweather, "Money" May's not ducking the freckled face redhead.

Damn that was a horrible offer from mr. fishnet & shaeferatsch.Marquez came from 126lb & can barely make 144lb they think they can jossesito lopez him? smh.Canelo struggles making 154lb & should be at 160lb.Has the the frame to move up to 168lb as well if he wanted too,both he & chavez jr.One reason why I don't like GB like arum protecting their precious divas(canelo,broner,chavez jr ect)

 

Overall, a good analysis. But I think Mayweather purposely blowing the weight limit he agreed to was a big deal. He knew exactly what he was doing and wrote himself a loophole to the weight limit in the contract.

I think "Canoli" Alvarez will have some trouble with Trout in the first part of the fight, but then will start to take over in the second half. Trout may even get stopped. I can definitely see a Vargas/Winky type of situation if I'm all wrong and Canoli just can't handle that rangy southpaw jab. I just have a real good feeling about Alvarez.
