I was reading Bute is fighting Pasacl so googled Bute and found out from espn that in 2011 from 3 bouts(Magee,Mendy,Johnson) he made $5.2 million

    http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/...united-states-best-paid-athlete-espn-magazine

he had a 3 fight showtime contract which was $2 million a fight

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ghters-in-the-world-are-they-worth-it/page/11

I just cant understand considering Bute sells out arenas in Canada why he would go to England to fight Froch and Showtime didnt really want the fight and I cant see what Froch brought to the table

In fairness to Bute, he came over to prove he wasn't a stay at home untested title holder, It backfired spectacularly but he deserves credit for having the balls to go on the road and test himself.

He took the fight so he could be close to Eddie.

Some of the above and I also think they thought Froch was on his way into retirement

Andre Ward coming out of the Super 6 deemed Bute unworthy of fighting him because he was such a homer (incredible but true, pot ..kettle ..black).
Showtime had 1 fight left on his contract, so they passed on the Froch fight and if he won, they would have Bute fight Ward for his final fight of the contract. So he went over to England to "earn" his shot at the SOG but in the end it was all for nothing.
Not only did he get blasted out by Carl, Andre Ward decided that despite being built by Showtime, he about turned and signed with HBO instead.

    Why do you think?

He's a boxer. Its gonna be in 3 places. Home, Away of neutral. Thats a fact for every fighter.

No need for neutral. So home or away.

    "fancy fighting Froch in England"
    "okay, why not?"

    Where's the debate?

and dont give me none of that home bias rubbish. He's an adult boxer...and the big ticket was Froch. If they fought in Canada "why did froch fight in canada?" zzzz

Anyway, my answer is - I dont know mate! :good

    1. They got big money to come over and kept Canadian PPV
    2. They massivley underestimated Froch
    3. There was a rematch clause
    4. Froch was mandatory challenger
    5. Froch took seriously short money to get the fight.

Epix is not Canada. AFAIK most of the Canadian fights that are shown "free" in the US (epix, wealth tv, hbo, sho) are ppv in Canada. Though how many can they be selling, 100k max?

The first bit probably true.Cant for the life of me seeing number 2 being right.Number 3 being a possible, though looking like they're not taking it either due to his beating in the last one or weight making,or both.Number 4 possible.Number 5 about as possible as number 2,Frochs a professional and a champion, and will want to be paid accordingly.

Also agree with the other posts about Bute.Hes also a professional and a champion, and in coming to Carls hometown, acted as such.Losing to him doesn't suddenly make him a bad fighter, overestimated, etc.

I expect Bute to beat Pascal, then win the rematch with Froch in Canada............he learned a lot from that fight. It's a shame that Ward refuses to fight outside his home town.......................everyone had to travel except Ward..............real bias...............
