Yeah, unfortunately Nick would have only had a five fight career if that was the case. I'm pretty sure Jeremy Jackson could have kept bouncing his head like a basketball until his face fell off.

Some of guys missed the point of the thread entirely,The topic was just a metaphor for fights going until someone is finished.....not actually dead.:patsch

If the point of this thread was to eulogize that nick would be undefeated in a NHB fight with limited rules like the early days, then this means that Paul Daley is the GOAT

If this fight was ''to the death'' then poor Nate would be scraping Nicks face off the canvass after Daley stomped his head

If the point of this thread was to claim that Nick is prohibited by the rules then see my previous post

Which came after the URMMA stopped Nick's head being used for penalty practice...which was the whole point of the post

The rules saved Nick during his biggest win. If it was a fight to the death, as Gil put it, Nick would have lost after he face planted and turtled up

To be fair, if it was just a fight to the finish, Diaz would have just closed the distance and taken the fight to the ground.

No doubt if Nick came to grapple and not trade then he'd win easier than standing and trading with Semtex.

Always a chance he gets caught though, and as I said, with stomps and kicks...

The early UFC's didnt have a time limit but Sakuraba vs Royce is the best example that I know of under those type of rules(a fight to the finish not to the death of course). Like Sakuraba I do think Nick Diaz would excel under a format like that as would a few other fighters.

While I dont think Diaz would be undefeated I think I would agree with Melendez.

Obviously Diaz's opponents would change their strategy knowing they would be fighting with no time limit.

He's just hyping up his team mate, of course. His statement doesn't mean anything.

If every fight were to the death I'd bet against Diaz at least in 3-5 fights in his division.

Really? :huh I'd say he'd come out on top. He probably has the best cardio and BJJ. Plus he has a solid chin.
