I see GSP opening up Nick's scar tissue one way or another and doctors stepping in eventually. Not sure whether GSP will try to use a stick n' move tactic or try to use GnP from half guard. Don't think the fight will at all look like the Daley or Cyborg fights, which were absolute firefights. GSP doesn't play that game, and if he did, I don't think he would come out on top against Nick.
Rob I see your point on the Daley and Cyborg fights. Imo, if GSP gives up any ground he will be measured, tagged. GnP is how it will be won. Very excited.
At this level if you don't have the skill set to keep another fighter from controlling you, you deserve to lose; elite fighters should be well versed in all aspects of the fight game.
Gsp is like the wladamir klitschko of mma he does all the right things and doesn't take any risks which is the right thing to do but it doesn't make his fights exciting so in the sense of the sport he wins but fails at the entertainment side of it.
This is what I don't understand with MMA fans. One minute they say "boxing isn't as good as MMA" then in the next breathe they're saying that UFC fights like last night are bad because the fighter just "lays and prays". If you want to see stand up/boxing for the whole fight, go watch boxing all the time, it's simple! Mixed Martial Arts is exactly that, a mix of everything, so I don't understand why people ***** all the time. It's funny when people talk about Diaz' stand up game, how great a boxer he is etc, etc, yet last night GSP was out jabbing and out landing him in at his own game. Diaz is not cut out for the sport any more, it's so obvious after last night.
How would Diaz vs. Vitor at 185 play out? Diaz keeps complaining about his opponent running away or using lnp to avoid a stand up war with him. I am quite sure Vitor will not do any of those things. And if Hendo is interested in moving back down to MW a fight with Diaz would produce fireworks as well. If Diaz can beat either or both of these guys...give him Anderson. Stylistically Diaz's last two matches were not good for him. Give him a powerful striker who will go toe to toe with him.
i don't understand why so many people here hate gsp? he is a ****ing great fighter and he seems to be a really decent person too. you're always going on about how boring his fights are. personally i like watching him fight and don't find him boring at all.
he spent the first two rounds holding Nick to the mat. 3, 4, 5 he stood up more and it was actually pretty competitive, until George decides to wrestle him down again and burn out the clock for the last minute or two. he does it all the time lets just be honest. He takes you down, burns the clock out and throws maybe 1 elbow every 15 seconds.
