1) Anderson Silva 2) JJ 3) GSP GSP has lost some explosiveness since that injury. He lost something else before that too. I don't think you can be considered the Greatest Mixed Martial Artist in the World (#s 1 and 2) if you are taking fighters down because you are getting hit, only to not advance your position or strike without any vigor once you get there. Not to mention look up at the big screen several times over your past few fights. He may have some names on his resume, but so do JJ and Anderson Silva. I believe Anderson Silva and JJ have beaten Greater fighters too, for what it's worth. But, beating big names is not what it boils down to when I judge people. You can learn all you need to know about a fighter in the way they fight, and I don't see anything burning inside of GSP anymore. My man knows this and hopefully rekindles that flame on his vacation. Imo, GSP needs to move on to the next chapter of his career. It will start in facing a hungry and dangerous competitor in Johny Hendricks. After that he should be on his way to bouts of more substance. Greater challenges and fighters await him like they do for Jose Aldo. Anderson Silva has been doing this longer than JJ and GSP. But, the difference between JJ and GSP is that Bones Jones is better in all aspects. He can, or at least wants to, advance position, submit and finish you. GSP can only ride that wave for so long, after a while it becomes apparent which Champion is fighting to be Great and which is only fighting to win. It's for the same reasons I ranked Pacman above Mayweather for all this years. It didn't matter who fought who first, but how you perform and imo GSP isn't giving 100% out there. Him, Mayweather, and Wladimir are similar in style, but they all lack heart. More specifically, a killer instinct.
When I do P4P in any sport I look at skillset and could they pull this **** off at an equal size. I dunno is GSP ranks all that high due to much of his ability comes from his ridiculous size and strength over his opponents. Same with JJ. Dunno if he could pull off what he does against someone with his size. AS has proven he can destroy people his size. Fedor back in the day did the same. Aldo does the same as well.
I would put GSP second. He is not spectacular but his formula is hard to beat and til someone can avoid his takedowns, He will continue to reign. I would say that He has surpassed Fedor as #2. Cmon man GSP not giving 100% And I love Pac but you put him ahead of Floyd this year and last? Maybe pre JMM 4.
Pacman ahead of Mayweather before he lost to Bradley, but I don't think GSP is as dominant as JJ. Beyond getting someone to the ground what else does he do? GSP may have more strikes on his feet than Fedor, but nowhere near as dominate. Fedor, JJ, and Silva finish fights when it goes to the ground, but the bells sounds when GSP is there. Time flys too. Holding someone to the mat, throwing with 50% as you clock watch and not attempting any joint or submission locks is hardly dominating. But, you are right in that the formula is hard to beat. I've seen many Contenders win fights this way. There is just more to being p4p than what he is doing out there. Another thing is that he is exhausting himself in the process. Just like Jose Aldo, who uses a similar formula. To some this is not as pleasing as taking Contenders out. Maybe it's time to jump weight, but he will not beat other p4p fighters this way. Bigger and just as strong of men. Neither will Aldo.
Anderson Silva is the greatest. Not only did he make numerous title defenses he defended his title against opponents who were on PEDs, Sonnen, Griffin, Bonnar. Silva is superhuman and cannot lose ever.
What disappointed me most is when you cant finish a guy like Hardy. But to his defense, I think his snoozers outweighs Fedors losses to Hendo and Silva.
I can't argue with most of your other points but IMO GSP has clearly the best resume in terms of talent.
