Good fight if it happens. It'll be GGG's best opposition yet.

HBO is smart to want this instead of say a face American TV audiences might be more familiar with (like a Brian Vera or Jermain Taylor).

Macklin will put up a fight and it'll be fun while it lasts.

Good measuring stick fight for Golovkin, see where he stands in the division against true middleweight opposition.

As much as I wanna see this fight, if I were Macklin, i'd be looking in Quillin's direction instead though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Macklin with DiBella? If he is, they would rather have the Chavez Jr fight as there is more money there. ( besides Macklin vs Chavez or GGG are good fights either way) Quillin is ****ed, he can't fight Martinez (contract with HBO), GGG (I assume he has a contract too), and Chavez Jr (TR). More than likely Quillin can't fight Macklin either.

DiBella probably wants Chavez-Macklin, but Top Rank could likely throw a weaker opponent in with Chavez like Vera now, especially since HBO completely gave up their ability to put pressure on him for his comeback fight since they did away with Broner.

Good fight if it will happen. A legit MW against GGG. Barker vs 3G would be cool too.

    Yeah Macklin is with DiBella.

No doubt Chavez is the biggest money fight in the division but Quillin is much more winnable and provides a title if he wins. Leaves him with more bargaining power going into a fight with Chavez or unification with GGG or Geale.

Can't see any reason why Macklin - Quillin couldn't get made. As far as I know DiBella isn't tied into a network contract.

Great step up fight for both guys. I know he's untested, but GGG definitely passes the eye test. His power looks legit and this will give us a shot to test it against a solid MW.

Matchups over names. If HBO follows this path, they'll be OK for the most part.

You are right, is Martinez who has a contract with HBO, not DiBella or his other fighters.

I just read 5 minutes ago that Macklin wanted to fight Lemieux on HBO on July 1 but Lemieux coach have 2 big fights to prepare (Pascal and Decarie) so they refuse , now they're in talk to make the Macklin-Lemieux fight in the fall.
