You're right. Everyone hated Glen Johnson for doing that, even giving him the mockingly disgraceful moniker of "Road Warrior". Poor Glen couldn't even hear his own nickname without being reminded that he wasn't popular enough to have hometown fights and therefor would have no fans.

 

Ward isn't obliged to give either of them a rematch, but out of Kessler and Froch, I think it would be better for him if Kessler was to win in May. A lot of people are still bitter with the way he beat him, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to put that nonsense to bed with another win over him. If he can do that in Denmark -- Kessler's people must throw serious money at him -- then all the better. But if not, then Las Vegas would be perfectly fine.

Edit: But what a lot of people are failing to take into account, is Ward's lucrative relationship with HBO. They're grooming him as their next star. I very much doubt they'll allow him to travel to Europe -- for a couple of fighters he's already soundly beaten -- and not be able to show the fight live in the States. All three of them -- Ward, Froch and Kessler -- have good reasons for staying in their respective countries - a combination of drawing good crowds and having solid TV deals. Ward, however, has the edge on them because he's the man of the division, and he's the one with wins over both. The onus would probably be on the the Kessler-Froch winner to agree to the other's terms. They'll need him more than he'll need them.

True,Ward is not forced to give either Froch or Kessler a rematch. But to say that they need Ward is insane!! Kessler have already made so many money,so he dont NEED to fight what really is the worst thing IMO,is that Ward says:Kessler only came to oakland because he thought it would be an easy fight!?? Kessler has fought in: Germany,australia,usa,wales and is now going to fight Froch in london..And Kessler fought outside his country when he was champion.IF Ward was a bit more "oldschool" he would know that all great fighters fought outside their country...Ward is behaving like a primadonna.The thing is,Ward is upset to see Froch and Kessler making BIG paydays,while he is not...Ward is NOT mayweather or Hopkins...

 

Sorry, when I said Kessler needs Ward more, I didn't mean it in the sense that Kessler ultimately needs Ward (like he has nother other choices). I just meant that if the two were to fight, then Kessler would be the one pushing for it more because he's the one who's looking to avenge a loss and win the world titles. Whereas Ward isn't. He's already proven he's the better fighter and he's the one who's holding the number one spot. If the fight failed to materialise, he'll just shrug his shoulders and move on with the comfort of knowing he's already beaten him.

 

Big Ward fan here and I would love to see him travel. He beats his opponents anywhere. It's not like he's getting gift decisions or Joe Cal stoppages, he's banging out legitimate 9-3 type victories.

Why not get some exposure, makes some money and shut up the critics?

We don´t know how he will respond in a fight in europe,so everything you write is how you WISH he would do...
But i agree 100% with the last thing you wrote...He has lately told those who listen to him,that he would knock out both Froch and Kessler if they fought again,so he can´t be affraid of the judges...Oh and just for the record,either Froch or Kessler has never been knocked out,he couldn´t knock out Kessler,there was halfblind due to the cuts over both eyes...I know he put Dawson down..But Froch and Kessler is known for their iron chins..So i must smile at that comment.
