Mayweather like Hopkins will age like fine wine!

He might. Something that is a big difference is that Hopkins at 6'1 can easily fill into the lightheavyweight limit and will not be small for the weight.

Mayweather at 5'8 is an average sized welterweight and smallish 154lber. He relies more on speed and natural reflexes than Hopkins does. His speed and reflexes have been deteriorating for a while now and will continue to diminish with each fight, it's how long he can delay them from becoming ineffective is what will determine how successful his longevity is.

 

The difference between Hopkins and Floyd is this, Hopkins "game" never changed all that much. He just stopped beating the **** out of people due to having a lesser power to weight class ratio. His footwork, punch placement, angles, and stategy has always remained unchanged throughout his career. Hopkins game does not rely that much on "reflexes". While Floyd IS an absolute genius, he still hangs on his reflexes defensively a bit.

There has been slight changes to Floyd's game and that is sign to me that his aging is altering his fighting style. He lays on the ropes more, is slightly more immobile on his feet, and I say this RELATIVELY speaking, because the Floyd in his prime at 130/135/140 could bounce around in circles around people. He hasn't shown that he can move like that in a very long time.


This is why I say he isn't aging like fine wine. Hes aging like wine, but not fine wine. Only Bernard Hopkins ages like fine wine. :deal

Mayweather is no Hopkins.

 

I think Floyd taking less punishment also helps with his longevity, he could probably have 1 to 2 fights a year for the next 5 years...
