Unsetteling news. Nobody goes into a fight 100%, but an injury is a lot different than aches and pains. I believe GSP will flame out before 35 like Fedor. Imo, there is not much else to prove. He should only fight Johny Hendricks if he really wants to. If not, have a tune up before Anderson Silva and retire. GSP will have a place in the sun, but it's not worth running yourself into the ground. His trainers might know him better than I do, but I see no reason to go on besides a fight with Anderson Silva.
very very sensible post. hendricks then silva then walk off into the sunset before the rest of the hungry young wolves at welter catch up to him
Wrestling is Hendricks strong point so what's the big deal. He's ''younger'', looks strong and is supposed to have good takedown defense. At some point someone's gonna have to be able to prevent those takedowns, Georges generally always fights the same way against everyone. Hendricks is the guy with the best suit of skills to go against St-Pierre. If he's unable prevent the TD's or elaborate a game plan to counter GSP's wrestling, he deserves to lose imo. It's not like no one knows how Geroges wins his fights. :!:
/facepalm indeed. Of course is left hand is devastating but against Georges it's his wrestling (mostly TD defense) that would allow him to spend time on his feet and then maybe land that left. From Hendricks' wiki cause im lazy. ''In addition to his two national championships, Hendricks was a 4-time All-American at OSU and a three-time Big 12 Conference champion (2005, 2006 & 2007).[4] During his high school wrestling career at Edmond Memorial High School, Hendricks won three Oklahoma state titles and the 160-pound high school national championship'' GSP has none of that wrestling background, so again If Johny is unable prevent the Takedowns or elaborate a game plan to counter GSP's wrestling, he deserves to lose.
again atsch without that left hand he wouldn't be a contender so no his wrestling isnt his strong point that left hand is his only point. GSP can and will take Johnny down. the question is can johnny catch em while he has the chance.
It is fairly phenomenal if he had an Achilles injury prior to that performance. More like completely unbelievable. This news does puts hendricks on the cooler for a while, hendricks will need to stay active if he wants to keep up steam and progress. LIke it or not, GSP evolution as a fighter has led him to wrestling. For him to strike exclusively with his hands would be giving away the main part of his strength as a fighter. It's like taking the jab away from ali or uppercut from tyson
