David Allen - The White Rhino is 2-0 1 KO. He is a 21 year old from Yorkshire. 2 fights scheduled on Boxrec 27/4 & 11/5. Carl Spencer - 27 from Yorkshire 2-0 both KO's and has the same schedule. Early days. Anyone know much about them?
Spoke to them both yesterday at the press conference in Doncaster. Carl says that he boxed for England as an amateur, beating Richard Towers and a Canadian who went to the Olympics. He's a big unit. David is much shorter though still solid and reckons he is the best part of 18 stone - lots of it in his tree trunk legs. He's sparred many rounds with Matt Skelton and, pre the Olympics, with Anthony Joshua. Kevin Saunders rates both highly and says that David's the right kind of crazy - when he gets hit he just laughs and gets stuck in.
Davids dad was a good welter,I think,a couple of decades or so ago.Good record, beat some good men,top ten in GB.David promising also. The division is getting very interesting in GB.
i think they're both with Dennis Hobson and Kevin Saunders - who now works full time for the promoter.
How do you think they compare on potential to AJ Carter who is making his debut on 5th April on the Steve Goodwin card?
It was reported last month that Spencer had left Sanders. http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/boxing/doncaster-heavyweights-big-date-1-5447490
Derek Williams raves about A.J. Carter but I've never seen him fight, only watched him train. Thought he looked sharp enough and aggressive but who knows yet. Too early to tell much about any of them really.
