I had no idea this was even in the works. Apparently, they are dropping the headgear in olympic boxing and rounds will be judged on a 10 point scoring system. http://espn.go.com/olympics/story/_...xing-drops-head-guards-changes-scoring-system
stupid rule. healthy is #1 and if a boxer starts amateur at 16 and than goes pro and fights until 36, than its 20 years of getting punched to the head/face. to long. boxers need to be protetcted more in the amateurs.
Headgear doesn't protect your brain. Its for cuts. And I get hit a **** ton more when I wear headgear than I do without it.
Am not sure its a good idea in the olympics boxers fight an if they win they fight agen days later what do they do if a fighter gets a bad cut how is he ment to fight agen the main reason of the head gaurd is to stop cuts so with out them people will get cut an they don't have months to recover like the pros
Sounds goos to me. But warriors such as Khan and Audrey would of never won medals had this been the case...
