All this talk about former great Big George (but fat and old) coming back to win a title makes me laugh. How soon these guys forget that a fat and old MW came up to win a portion of the title in this era . . . ****ing clowns.

I didn't read through the thread, but I presume that there are countless looped highlights of a pawing jab, a lean backwards, and a karate chop.

Lol Schultz basically got on his bicycle for the fight and as another poster pointed out, he couldn't resist the blatant headbutt.
You're point about the last decade being more competitive doesn't gell when you use Schulz as an example, George Foreman was old and past his prime? LOL no **** he was 46 years old it's just that as he was Foreman, he still had the power and was ring savy enough to still hang for a few years. So please explain how this era's fighters are more competitive as opposed to what the late 80's to 90's brought us with Holyfield, Bowe, Tyson, Lewis, Ruddock, Tua, Morrison...:good

No kidding. Let's also not forget that Eurobum Axel Schulz didn't just get one but *THREE* titleshots in the 90s. If the 90s were this super tough and stacked era that some believe it was, how on earth did a C level fighter like Schulz get three title shots?

BTW: A 23 year old Wlad demolished and stopped Schulz in a brutal beatdown in 1999. Schulz didn't land a single punch.

This seems to be the "Wlad has a good chin" thread....
Interesting, he can take shots that would have derailed anyone else....
    Without even developing alzhaimer.

I think it is pointless to argue with some people here. When they really think the 80es and early 90es were good boxing wise they just dont have a clue. But all americans think that as soon there is no american heavyweight that heavyweight boxing sucks. Now they bring the arguement that all big guys play football.

In the end the difference between the elite boxers and the non elites is actually pretty small.
It's just those small differences which can turn a competitive fight into a total beatdown.

It is why on a good night a c level fighter can beat an a level fighter who maybe had a bad sleep.

The difference between being a good boxer and a great boxer is just a very small line.

People think Foreman coming back and getting a shot was a problem with the era?

Foreman in the last fight of his comeback, at 48 years old, a month off his 49th birthday, beat Shannon Briggs, in 1997.

Thirteen years later, he was considered good enough for a title-shot against Vitali Klitscko, in which he went 12 rounds.

What does that say about this one then?
