I see Froch with the advantage in this one. I'd like Kessler to win though

Froch should win this fight. I favor him because I think he is a better fighter then he was when he fought Kessler. I can't say the same for the Viking warrior.

Going back to the last fight there's a couple of things that I noticed. It took "The Cobra" a longtime to truly come out in the first fight. Froch started out by being cautious and boxing off the back foot. He didn't throw a lot of punches and was seldom the aggressor. He had decent success but didn't clearly distinguish himself from Kessler. By the starting of the mid rounds he was warming up and started counter punching Kessler well but then he got countered a couple of times and started getting hit to the body. In the late mid rounds he suffered what seemed to be a temporary lack of confidence and really let his punch out put and work rate drop. He did some good work but lost a lot of rounds by letting himself be clearly out worked. The last 3 to 4 rounds is when the real Carl froch started to emerge. He started pressuring Kessler hard and staying in the pocket to deliver hard counter shots. By the end of the fight he was counter punching extremely well and had hurt kessler in most of the final rounds.

The biggest problem with Carl's performance was that he did himself no favors with the judges by allowing himself to be out worked and out landed in most rounds, even in many of the rounds that he won. This has to change in the next fight.

I expect Froch to be able to make these changes. Here is why:

I strongly believe the kessler loss was the best thing to happen to Froch in his career to date. He's made a lot of improvements since and is a better fighter. He keeps his hands up a lot more and has added more defense and boxing to his game. He has also now added combination punching to is boxing as well.

There has always been two Carl Frochs'. The first, Carl Froch the boxer. This Carl Froch uses a stiff jab, range, timing and angles to control his opponent and score points while he studies them and sets them up for the other Carl Froch....the Cobra. The second Carl Froch, the Cobra, is the one that uses awkward slickness and a methodical, unrelenting pace to break down his opponents. When Carl Froch is fighting his this mode he likes to stay in close range and bait his opponents into throwing punches so that he can counter them with hard 1-2 combinations, usually Left hooks, uppercuts and straight right hands.

Before the Kessler fight Carl Froch mainly relied on the "Cobra" part of his game to break down his opponents and win fights. The boxing side of his was a tool to help him set up the power punching. Since the Kessler fight he's added better defense and combination punching to his boxing game. He can now win fights against top fighters without ever having to use the beast-mode-counter-punching elements of his game. In the first fight he couldn't box well enough to clearly distinguish himself from kessler in the first half of the fight; he couldn't control the pace of the fight well enough to conserve his energy and as a result lost the middle rounds; and it took him three quarters of the fight to get "The Cobra" into the fight.

With the improvements in Carl's boxing I think he has gained enough of an edge to now more clearly distinguish himself in the parts of the fight where the boxers are boxing. I also think that he'll be able to pace the fight better and do a more effective job at conserving his energy while wearing Kessler down. Finally, it won't take Carl so long to get the Cobra into the fight. And frankly when he can get that part of his game rolling the only super middle that can handle it is Andre Ward. The fight will still be close but I think Froch has edged forward just enough to swing the balance of the fight in his favor. My prediction in this fight is a late rounds TKO or a 3-4 round UD for Froch.

I'd rather see Carl in a bunch of domestic dust ups with the up and coming British fighters. Nothing says going out with a bag like single-handedly whipping out your country's next generation of stars in your division. I guess if you were his manager you would want to see him fight ward again because those other fights will always be there but I don't see him winning that fight. I'd watch the fight but I don't see it being competitive.

I think the second fight will be alot different from the first one.Froch has improved...But when i look at Kessler i also see improvement...3 fights= KO´s. and ofc we can say that carl fought the better opponents..I think that people are being "blinded by the lights".Mack isn´t really that good, and he was also pounded by Froch, but he fought a great fight with Bute.So he is confident.
But back to the fight...The way i think it wil go,is a close fight the first rounds, but i really belive Kessler will either stop Froch with a left hook to the liver,or atleast afflicting alot of pain to the cobra with Kesslers relentless body attacks,IF Froch get carried away, and want to show his fans some reckless attacks,i think he could be knocked down,in doing so...BUT it is Froch-Kessler and ANYTHING can happen...but i think Kessler is much better this time, injury free, and he def. got some more power now...Magee is a tough guy,( watch froch-magee).But he was whiped out,Green was knocked out cold...With kesslers new weapons body attacks and a insane left hook...So im leaning towards Kessler in there rematch..But Mikkel needs to make sure that he not will win any close rounds,he has to be at his very best..i can´t wait to see what gameplan Kessler and Montoya has made for this battle...But with Froch you never know,he is fired up for this one!!!! But imo Kessler by tko in the late rounds or a close UD...(or froch by UD or cuts!) A Thriller!!!! All respect to those two great men,fighters...That aren´t affraid of going to war!!!

I think froch wins this a lot more easily than most people are expecting, although id like kessler to do it again. Kessler struggled too much with green and if froch gets him in trouble he WILL finish.

I believe Kessler can beat Froch.
It will not be easy, but I think Kessler can do it.

A lot of posters here are solely focusing on the fact, that Froch has had a good run since the last fight against Kessler, gaining experience against world-class operators, and winning his last two fights in spectacular style.
It is all true, but Kessler is definitely not on the decline, and probably has a lot more to offer in this rematch, compared to their first fight:

1: Kesslers eyesight is back to normal.
Kessler was known for his eagle-eyed precision before the super-six, and in the fight against Froch in 2010 he was forced to be the aggressor (not always successfully) because he couldn't rely on his precision to fight from the distance.
In his last two fights Kessler has been showing his acclaimed precision again, and Froch is normally not hard to find in the ring.

2: Kessler has been working with Jimmy Montoya as a coach now for 3 years. Montoya has been adding a lot of new weapons to Kesslers arsenal (or rather making Kessler find them again, after having relied on the "jab-jab-straight" tactics for a long time under his former coach Ricard Olsen). Montoya has been able to find fatal flaws in Kesslers last opponents every time, and present it tactically for Kessler to exploit (Allan Green dropping his right hand, exposing him for the left hook. Magees soft spot down below, etc.)
Froch-Kessler I was the Kesslers first fight with Montoya in the corner. I am sure Jimmy has been able to find a lot of new stuff about Froch, Kessler can exploit.

If Froch fights like against Bute and Mack, storming forward like a man possessed, I can see Froch being at the wrong end of a nasty counterpunch at some point in the match.
Froch has a good chin, but maybe not as good as he thinks himself.
If Froch fights like against Abraham, keeping the distance and relying on his reach advantage to outscore Kessler, it will be a much more difficult night for Kessler. Kessler would then have to rely on his speed advantage to slip, counter and close the distance, working the body like in their first match, and hitting him from awkward angles.

Froch has made it public, that he will stop Kessler before the 9th round, and it will become a war. If that is true, Kessler has a much better chance than if Froch boxes the match sensibly (which I actually think he will).
Froch also has an enormous pressure on his shoulders. He has been calling out Kessler publically, and has the home advantage, and his fans are expecting great things from him.
It could work out bad for Froch who's arguably best wins in recent time (Abraham, Bute) came after defeats, where the expectancies were much lower...

Either way, it will be an exciting match-up, which every red-blooded fight fan should look forward to !!

Another factor, I think will make a difference in this fight:

    Kesslers jab.
His accuracy has improved, so it will be hitting Froch more often. But Kesslers jab is not only accurate, it is very powerful.
Former opponents and sparring partners have often said, that the most frustrating thing about Kesslers jab is, that it is not an annoying slap, but hurts, and feels like a solid straight right every time it connects.
If Froch gets peppered with enough of those, it could make him angry enough to abandon an initially careful plan, and go to war, thus setting him up for Kesslers devastating counterpunches...

I don't think Kessler's jab will be a big factor in this fight. Kessler's jab has always been good. I don't know if it is better then before or if the opponents he's faced are worse. The one thing that I noticed from the last fight was that Froch had the distance on Kessler's jab pretty much from the opening bell. He was basically staying outside of it or ridding it all night. Also Froch's own jab was throughout most of the fight more effective then Kessler's. It'll be close but I don't expect things to change that much.
