    Our LHW Poyatsyka beat Kapitonenko at 2011 Nationals in spite of giving up 40+ lbs only to get robbed. He knew he wasn't going to beat Usyk so he tried at SHW

    Yeah, they're skipping the extra middleweight contest that was reserved for a tiebreaker.

    The event is over...except for the pageantry.

    They bring out both squads for ceremonial hand-shaking and flag-waving.

    It actually promises to be a far more competitive second leg of the QF than we got earlier today.

    Mexico is parading out some of the cream of their crop and might have a great chance of forcing that tie-breaker.

    I favor the Guerreros outright at middleweight and light heavyweight and the rest are fairly even.

    Emigdio vs. McGoldrick @ bantam should be fun; both very young and talented.

    Juan Romero is a three-season WSB veteran, in against Sam Maxwell who has been matched tough and in particular very unfortunate to meet Lomachenko twice so far this season. He is better than his 1-3 record.

    Likewise, heavyweight Uaine Fa has been thrown to the wolves and isn't that bad. He's in with a real wildcard in Gerardo Bisbal. The giant Puerto Rican is, you guessed it, the kid brother of recent Abdusallamov conquest Victor Bisbal. Like his older brother, Gerardo is fat and chinny - but powerful.

    No Maxwell is actually worse as he lost to Mussafirov and displayed even worse spoiling than he did in the 2nd Lomachenko fight which is really saying something...but won by typical british judging.

    - Fa is a good HW

    - Have you ever seen MW Munoz and LHW Cabrera? Arro and Kamara are decent and the Mexican guys haven't beat any quality opponents I recognize.

    I think Maxwell is decent, a little too amateur for my liking, but a solid enough technician all the same. Good hand speed, jab and punch variety. I thought he acquitted himself well enough in both Lomacheko fights all things considered, and looked decent against David Oliver Joyce, a fight he could have got the decision in. Not that DOJ is anything close to world class like.

    I think Romero's more suited to Maxwell's style. Romero's as tall and likes to box, though he does throw a lot of shots. I think a problem with Maxwell is that having moved up to light-welter then coming back down, he's dead at the weight and runs out of gas a little against the aggressive pressure fighters and ends up spoiling in order to tie them up. Seen him school Ross Hickey at 10 stone without a single clinch.
