who would win this fight Palomino vs Guerrero? I meant this for the classic section can you move it? Im sure many in the general have no idea who Carlos Palomino was.
what the ****s he doing at welter then being viewed as a ****ing threat and getting a shot at the title??????? explain
Palomino fought and defended his welterweight title when it was "a welterweight title" . not some interim crap among 8 other belts,. meaning he was a legit champion fighting legit challengers. guys like benetiz (15 rounds) roberto duran, dave green, stracey,Muniz, Hedgemon lewis.... hes a solid, legit welterweight and would annihilate Robert Guerrero , veteran of 2 welterweight fights ever, NO JR WELTER, a handfull at 135, and the rest at super feather on down whats the ghosts biggest win? i cant really think of one, Berto? come on man
A better question is prime Palomino against the current Mayweather. If Cotto tested Mayweather and forced him to bring his A-game, Palomino would've done that and more as he was a better fighter than Cotto. Back to Guerrero, though. He gets thrashed.
yeah with a guy like mayweather, obviously it would have to at least play out and who knows what really would have happened in these type of hypothetical match ups ....but a guy like Robert Guerrero has no business being in the discussion at this weight..... **** match up up with salvador sanchez or wilfredo gomez and just watch him get flattened at featherweight
Guerrero is kind of an okay-at-everything type of guy with no real standout attributes. Makes for a solid world-class fighter at a number of weight divisions, but it keeps him from ever being an elite fighter (and far from a great one). I don't really know why so many people are giving him a chance to make the Mayweather fight very competitive. He's outmatched completely skill-wise and doesn't have the physical tools and timing to compensate at all. I respect the hell out of Mayweather's skills, but I really hope he follows this up with the Trout/Alvarez winner and not somebody like Danny Garcia.
Palomino absolutely murks the hell out of Robert. He's soft and doesn't like it to the body. Even Aydin was almost folding him up with body shots late in the fight. Palmino would destroy him down there and get a stoppage before the 9th round in all likelihood.
and yet you have mother****ers around here saying Mayweather beats Duran............or leonard I say he doesnt even beat Benitez....I would love to have an Aaron Pryor at welter today facing Mayweather in an attempted cherry pick just to see what would happen, prior to his addictions of course.
The Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Benitez crop beat Mayweather at 147. Pryor is a fight I consider just about 50/50 at junior welterweight. I can see arguments for either guy winning. Mayweather's one of the all-time greats, but north of 130, there are a number of guys who would beat him and do so decisively. Not a knock on him or a detraction of his greatness - boxing history is just that deep with brilliant and gifted fighters (and even guys without the historical standing of Mayweather who just possess too many advantages stylistically and size-wise such as Donald Curry, for instance).
Now THAT's a fight worth debating, Mayweather-Palomino. It's been a while since i watched a Palomino fight, but i know he was an outstanding WW. Strong, granite chin, good bodypuncher and it took guys like Duran and Benitez to end his run. Real tough fight for Floyd, or any WW for that matter.
Palomino, TKO 8 - 10 He would do exactly what Salido did to Guerrero, land that overhand right and bang him on the inside, but Palomino is much bigger and punches much harder.
