They thought Prescott could repeat his first performance and save his career.

Crawford got really lucky there. Probably his highest payday or close to it, easy fight, good exposure.

That's exactly why it's so high, they had to sweeten the pot it cause this is a top prospect taking a step up in weight and quality on short notice.

  3. :patsch never even thought about that but most of us thought this was a stepping stone for prescott

It seems like a reporting error to me... like they reversed who got which purse.

Prescott was signed to fight for a title, on a HBO televised co-feature... 50K seems way to little for that spot. 125K sounds about right.

Meanwhile Crawford was signed to fight earlier in the night for 15K... Would they really bump him all the way up to 125? When Prescott (the name guy) is only getting 50???

Doesn't make sense to me... It might well be a typo... who knows?

  5. he was a really good amateur and a good prospect and since he got a 2 week notice where he moved up in weight it kinda does makes sense now but prescott 50k?no thts a joke

If you like the sweet science, then yes Crawford earned it. He completely dominated Prescott with superior skill and even landed the harder shots. It was kind of like watching Anselmo Moreno v Darchinyan.

I would think he was ranked higher than Crawford so he would get more. Usually the replacement opponent is the one making short money.

It always surprises me when men subject their brains and bodies for a pittance. Hell, that's actually a lot of money for a fight; most fighters make practically nothing after they pay their trainers, their cutmen, the promoter, the sanctioning authority, etc.

Crazy way to make a living.

BTW Crawford toyed with Prescott most of the evening. His movement caused the Colombian mucho grief. Kinda glad he lost as I can't stand his ******* Cuban trainer, Franco what's his name. Always making throat cutting gestures, especially when he has a Cuban fighter in there like Gamboa or Rigandoux.

Really really crazy and sad if you think about it man. What about these guys when tehy're older ? No pension no health insurance. really sad if you think about it. I don't think I'd let my own kids go into boxing for this reason.

Also where's your avatar from brother?
