Alvarado beats any of GB 140 POUNDERS!

Yes, Mike Alvarado is under-rated to a degree, but it is also a pretty god stylistic match-up for him, considering the adjustment. And he could adjust even better in the next fight if he learns to drop back, get set, do a 1-2, turn and pull away, and repeat. He did alot more of this commpared to the 1st fight, where he got suckered into a sustained booth war...

I think Alvarado would give a good fight to the others, but definitely no guarantees that he'd win... so far we've seen is that he matches up well against Rios. No way getting away from the Breidis Prescott performance

 

Lucas Matthysse - Mathysse applies constant pressure causing Alvarado to clinch but eventually gets stopped around the 8th - 10th round

Danny Garcia - Evenly paced fight until the mid rounds where Garcia lands some good shots and increasing his work rate to eventually cruise to a UD victory

Amir Khan - Khan moves in and out early on hitting Alvarado at ease but gets caught at some point after the 4th and goes down and survives to the end of the round. Alvarado is likely to stop but Khan is easily able to out box him and flurry in with his speed. Either a KO win for Alvarado or a UD win for Khan . . . . or close decision depending on if he gets hurt at some point

Lamont Peterson - Pretty much an even fight with both men scoring heavy punches, given Petersons chin in the past its safe to say he goes down at least once and this proves the difference in a close fight

Alvarado is a decent fighter and may just pick up a belt (The next Rios fight is likely to be for the full WBO title as Marquez will fight at 147 vs Bradley, you can bank on that one) but he isnt the best ay 140 and far from it especially with more and more fighters emerging.

 

If Rios and Alvarado were pitted against GB's current crop of 140 lb elites in a round robin style touney, I would hesitant to proclaim that the string of fights would produce one definitive class fighter amongst the group.

Unsettled parody would likely be final result.

(Though if Broner was included, I would favor him to emerge as the preeminent participant.)

I think the worst match-up would be Matthysse... he's just got too much power. Very very bad match-up for Mike...

Amir Khan would be the next worse match-up. Dood is just way faster and packs some good power in his punches when he settles down on them. Alvarado would inevitably get caught in a burst combo and would get pretty woozy. Khan finishes in a flurry - done. If Mike was lucky, he would catch Khan with his big right while Khan is jumping in...

Danny Garcia prob win a unanimous decision against Mike. He may weaken Alvarado by body shots and then catch him in some burst combos and finish him.

A Peterson match-up could be pretty compelling. It really depends on what gear Peterson is working at the time. Whether pressure fighter or boxer. Good chance Peterson for a UD....

Really like Alvarado but personally I'd make him an underdog against all the GB
140lbers.

He'd probably stop Khan, but Khan has the ability to outbox him if he fights smart. Could go either way depending on how Khan fights, in my opinion.

War between him and Peterson. Could go either way, also depending on how Peterson decides to fight.

He'd lose to Matthysse. Too much power and accuracy, I don't see Mike being disciplined enough to stay away.

Also a possible war. Both will throw with power, both will get hit flush. No clear winner to me..

I wouldn't honestly have Alvarado as my favorite against any of the fighters mentioned, although I do agree it's possible for him to win against any of them. If he fought all 4 I'd be surprised if he won more than 2, hell I'd give him big props if he managed to beat 2.

Alvarado is a horrific boxer, but he was in the ring with an even worse boxer than himself so he didn't look too dog****.

I think Khan destroys Alvarado too. He's far too fast and Alvarado swells up very, very quickly

Hell no. I would favor all of them over him even Khan.
