Had they opened their doors way back, the champion count of Japan would be close to Mexico.

Despite, settling for only WBA and WBC, they have impressive numbers.

It was robbery. Rodríguez in aworst case scenario only won 5 rounds (IMO he won 8)...119-109 | 117-111 | 115-113 is BS. Incredible tat this happened in México but if you considers it was one of the judges of Márquez - Pacquiao III...

 

I was really high on Rodriguez after his 2012 year. Will have to watch this fight.

The Japanese don't like recognizing belts everytime they pop up. wbc,wba,ibf,wbo,ibo,ibu.

 

I wouldn't go that far but they'd have a lot more champs that's for sure.

Japan only recognizes WBC and WBA if I'm not mistaken.

Satoshi Shingaki actually won the IBF title in 1984, so Takayama is the second Japanese person to win an IBF belt. The Japanese Boxing Commission, however, have begun to recognise it (and the WBO) starting from this month I believe, which means the number will increase in the near future.

If you saw both the Takayama and Rogriguez fights against Joyi, then you wouldn't be surprised Takayama won on Saturday.

 

They did the thing a lot of boxings fans seem to be calling for, where new sanctioning bodies started appearing in the 80's they refused to acknowledge them. 2 was enough for the Japanese

 

Takayama is actually under ALA promotion of Philippines sometimes trains in the Republiko las pinas.

 

That's because his Japanese boxing licence was revoked when he fought in an IBF eliminator, due to the JBC at the time not recognising that governing body.

Now that the IBF is accepted in Japan, he would be free to re-apply for his licence. Although he doesn't seem to be doing too bad fighting on the road, and I'm sure he'll stay loyal to ALA Promotions :good

 

I saw the first few rounds of Joyi vs. Takayama II. Looked very entertaining. Haven't gotten around to watching the whole thing yet. I'd like to see a third now, I'll say that.
