Even if/when Vitali beats Peter he'll still only be ranked #2 at the most. Wlad simply has too many wins for anyone to rank him lower.

I didn't realize you were assuming that Vitali beats Peter & the Cahgaev/Valuev winner both by brutal KO. That would make it closer but still Wlad has reigned for a longer period of time.

If Vitali beats Peter and Valuev ( assuming Valuev beats Chag, which will carry alot of weight) , that would make it hard to put him below anyone.

I think it'd be a hard call, as to which K boy would be number one, then.

    1. Vitali
    2. Wladimir
    3. Povetkin

The heavyweight division would be clean.

Vitali would need to win those two, then remain undefeated against top-10 opponents for another few years to be rated above Wlad.

His overall career is nowhere near as impressive as Wlad's. He lost against the only two wlite fighters he ever fought and made his name by beating old, fat, and old AND fat fighters. In terms of actual achievments he ranks alongside the likes of Mike Weaver at best.

It's pointless arguing about it though. We all know he'll have one fight MAXIMUM before retiring again.

I am afraid you are delusional. Vitali is 36 years old, he retired few years ago due to injuries, and every time he tried to make a comeback he failed due to the same reason.

I think it is really optimistic to still expect a comeback. Let alone to beat Peter and Valuev.

If Vitali stopped Peter and Valuev he should definitely rank above Wladimir.

Good question...But in my opinion, I would have to say that Vlad would have the more impressive resume because of the number of wins, yet Vitali would be the "tougher" of the two...It would have to depend entirely on the impressiveness of the wins. If both were brutal KO's then Vitali 1, if just decision wins, then Vitali 2.

I agree. That's how I look at it, too.

The potential for Vitali to surpass Wlad is there with these two opponents, and the only variable is how convincing he beats them.

Assuming he fights them, and beats them, of course.
