Is he really that good. I have only seen clips online of him. It just seems the same as when abraham was unbeaten. He was called a beast who would smash the rest. From what ive seen of him its hard to call because im not sure hes been fully tested yet. Obviously i havent seen enough of him to make that call but tell me what makes him so good? I hope he is as good as people are saying. It will be great to watch him come through if he is. Whay you think guys?
He's better than Abraham in terms of skills. Hopefully we'll see him against one of the top guys in the division soon.
probably my favourite fighter out there has everything and can really bang.spars with heavyweights and to even comape his skills to abraham hurts me lol. granted want to see him in better fights but by sounds of things not many want to fight hi which is understandable!
He hasn't put a foot wrong so far but hasn't really fought anyone of note. By the end of the year we'll have a much better idea how good he is though, personally I think he's a future star of the sport, with Martinez retiring he can clean up at MW then move up to SMW.
Kind of how i look at it really. I am not comparing him to abraham. Im only using him as an example of people hyping a fighter up when hes coming through only for him to be shown as a limited fighter. I hope he gets some good fights this year. Fights that show he has the skills to match other top middleweights and that hes not just a banger. Overall from what ive seen i think hes pretty good and good turn out to be very good if he is matched well to develop his skills. Sturm, Geale, Barker, Soliman, Rubio or Vera are all good fights for him. 3 more fights this year against a at least one of these and then i think well see him develop into a much more mature fighter.
With Abraham he was pushed very hard by Miranda and although he had genuine power he was always there to be out boxed in reality, his poor footwork and lumbering style were always obvious but it just took a decent operator to be able to expose those flaws. His tactics were often to just cover up in the peekaboo stance and absorb punishment before landing his own shots, that was always going to be an issue at world level. With Golovkin's amateur record and history plus the fact that he is more of a boxer/puncher than a straight up "take 3 to land 1" pure puncher, I think we may have something far less crude and limited.
He is the real deal. GGG has been widely avoided for too long but it looks like he's not too far away from finally getting the fights which will confirm his place amongst the best in the world.
I think so, we need to see him in with a better quality of fighter to be sure, but I'm as sold as i can be that he has the goods to win the middleweight lineal title and he a p4p level fighter
Like has already been said, he hasthe skills and he certainly has the power, but we have yet to see him really tested at top level (through no fault of his own)
He seems to have really good fundamentals and keeps a nice high guard. Unusually for someone who is that textbook he seems to have awesome power!!! Exciting to watch. His demolishion of Proksa was impressive.
he is showing spells of quality but a bit early to place him in that category, i hope he blossoms into a great and elite fighter. The fight before the Ishioda one was questionable as he looked vulnerable and open but still dominated.
Not sure why there isn't this demand to see Martinez vs Golivkin. A genuine 50-50 fight between fan friendly elite fighters in the same division. It's a great style match up. Sergio Martinez can fight Dzinziruk, Macklin, Barker and Murray in 4/5 of his last/next fights and nobody seems to get pissed of with him.
