I've got a ton of respect for Scott, used to love going to his fights and in his day he was a fantastic champion and a top level operator. Realistically though, those days are gone, this fight with Liam I can see being 50/50 but any level above this and he'd be struggling to win. I hope he can make inroads domesticallly and maybe even fight for a belt (or two) but he's nowhere near a fight with Ricky Burns at this moment in time, not even worth considering for reasons others have already dealt with. On to Ricky, I think some folks are being a bit unfair to him in this thread. I've no doubt he - and Billy - wants these unification fights, did Frank though? 6 months of inactivity at this stage in his career is nothing short of criminal and leaving Frank ****** could be the best thing he's ever done, but only if he fights Abril or Vasquez before the end of the year, which I think he will. I would add Broner to those names but I don't think he'll be back down to Lightweight after he beats PM, though stranger things have happened.
Listen mate i dont need to explain to you or anybody what role i had with Peter and Scott, your not getting told the full truth by whoever mate, ive been in Fort William and london myself with Scott on several occasion myself who do you think was training him then, peter trusted me because i was good at what he taught me. One thing the Harrisons got from me was loyalty, how can you say im disrespecting Peter read the posts ive said hes the finest coach Scotland has had, hardly disrespectful, all im doing wth you mate is pointing out facts i think you have been a little brainwashed, you will only ever get told what people want you to hear. If anything the jealousy is ripping out of people regarding Rickys sucsess, Ricky's by far a most popular fighter in Scotland, if you cant accept that theres somthing far wrong. If Scott does well good on him, ive moved on a long time ago and things are better now than they have ever been.
Your clearly not reading the posts mate Peter went and got the amateur job because of scott issues and knew he wouldnt be allowed to train Pros, so weres Peters loyalty to the 6 or 7 pros we were training? That was left to me then i couldnt bring sparring partners to the gym coz Peter had issues with there manager, hence the reason i eventually got my own gym and to be perfectly honest mate havent looked back! x
Anyway 5 weeks tonight the No1 Scottish figher defends his title against the No1 contender,i wont be on the forum until after the fight. Moog i wish Scott well in his very hard fight with Liam, all the best!
Dunky Ricky destroyed a classy domestic level fighter in Mitchell, that's all. I agree Ricky has a good all round game, but as a fellow fan of Scotts you have to remember he has always been a super intelligent fighter at cutting the ring off, at pushing his opponents back, and working the body whilst up close, yes he has a shorter reach than Ricky but up close a prime Scott would have dropped Ricky with these shots, and having shorter arms is beneficial when up close. Also when ever Scott got wrote of is when he put his best performances in, and in an all scottish fight he would have toook his game onto a new level I have no doubt.
Thanks for the good wishes Billy, and I genuinely hope Ricky wins his fight as I expect him today, and hopefully Scott beats Walsh as I am expecting and they both both onto bigger and better fights.
The amount of scots pitting two scot fighters against each other instead of backing them both is shocking. I'm a massive burns fan and he's clearly the top scottish fighter, doesn't mean I don't want scott to do well, this is a thread about a harrison fight and I wish him well. . . . .and hi everyone
I understand your point but I think most people who are bigger Scott fans than they are Rickys want Ricky to win his fights, uinless he fought Scott, just like most Ricky fans like you feel the same the opposite way around. I know I hope Ricky beats Gonzalas.
True and I'm not doubting that bud all I'm saying is they aren't fighting each other so instead of saying they are two great scot fighters doing their thing (at different levels as it stands now) it always deteriorates into who would win, who's the best etc. It's moot as they are not fighting each other just now so lets just back them individually. Them both doing well can only bode well for scottish boxing
I agree with what you are saying, as a big boxing fan I just hope Scott can beat Walsh, I think he will and him and Ricky can fight because I think it would bring. I think it would help scottish boxing attract lots more fans, which could only be a good thing in the lomg run.
I think Scott is a few fights away from a challenge yet. Ricky should have some major worldwide interest in the near future and huge fights coming up. Until Scott gets a wee run going it will only be big domestically. That could change with a few wins though
