Agreed Ero. Hatton was "the man" at 140, Froch has never been at 168 but hatton didn't have to deal with an exceptional talent in his prime like Ward.

 

He did meet 2 talented fighters and it didn't go too well. I don't think anyone was saying Ricky was past prime following his victory over Paulie either. He was probably more prime than Zoo was imo. But hard to compare two losses too. Its a lot easier to last 12 rounds against Ward than a prime Pac.

 

Even a **** Hatton would've beat Paulie, the style match up was awful from Malinaggis point of view. How is Paulie going to beat a pressure fighter? His movement is so-so and he can't punch to get respect.

 

Froch and its not even close. If you analyze both guys records Froch has fought at a consistently higher level. Hatton's two losses and Froch's two losses are very similar in my opinion. Ward is the Mayweather of his weight division and Kessler and Pacquiao are top level performers. Froch has fought Magee and Reid before he hit world level who arguably have been world level fighters at some stage of their career. Then add to that Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Abraham and Bute and its some resume. Let's be honest its probably the toughest run of opponents faced by a British fighter in the modern era.

 

Definitely. I couldn't believe people were picking Paulie if there was to be a rematch after Senchenko. To be honest, even though I wouldn't want to see it, I'd still likely favour the sloppy version of Hatton from the Senchenko fight to beat Malignaggi such was the stylistic advantage for him.

 

But the general opinion was he was better than ever following the fight. In fact him and Mayweather was saw as a dream tream iirc. Paulie could beat Diaz so he can whip a pressure fighter.

 

I don't know about better than ever, just maybe not as bad as the Lazcano fight made him look. Which was probably about right.

 

I thought he looked better thah he did against Collazo. I mean Froch v Hatton is tough because of how different their careers were. Ricky was spent and had achieved his success at an age were Froch hadn't done **** tbh.

 

But Collazo was the harder opponent and not as bad as a lot of people remember it because of the last few rounds and Hattons face at the end. All Hatton had to do to beat Paulie was to keep moving forward, PM had no answers to that style.

 

But he could beat Diaz so anyone who can move forward didn't have his number. Did you think he was done after the Paulie fight at the time or you looking at it on reflection? Sweeping Paulie in the manner he did was a great performance in my eyes.

 

Oh!! Refection mate. I didn't think Hatton was at his best but I thought if Pac couldn't put Diaz away then Hatton had a good chance of getting to him.

I didn't think Hatton was finished after the Mayweather/ Lascano fights but I didn't read anything into the Paulie fight other than he wasn't TOTALLY shot.

 

He put Diaz away though mate and in brutal style. Maybe not as quickly as you were expecting though. :yep
I wasn't convinced by Pac myself at the time and if Ricky could get inside and work his body...:yep

 

Diaz was pretty much terminated by Marquez.

He put everything into that and still got banged up and stopped.... the game was up for him then I think, despite only being a young man.
