This is one I can't figure out for the life of me. I can't even figure out what makes Calzaghe so successful. He comes in swinging arm punches, head up, hands down. Yet, guys like Lacy and Kessler got smacked around and looked confused, like deer in the headlights, between rounds. The question is, will Hopkins be as confused as Joe's previous opponents? If Joe's craziness doesn't affect Bernard, then I would think Hopkins will conterpunch him silly. I just can't see Hopkins shaking his head and looking like a lost kitten between rounds like Lacy, but I've been wrong before.Still, I'll go with Hopkins UD.
Much as I hate to admit it, I think Hopkins will win this fight. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was by TKO on a flash counter while Calzaghe's busy throwing a lot of punches. Either way, Calzaghe's going to have a hell of a time getting a decision win in the US, where Hopkins is a boxing institution. If the ref stops Hopkins from holding and headbutting it could present opportunities for Calzaghe, but I just don't see this happening. Hopkins by tko or close decision.
Hopkins UD or MD. The only way Joe stops Hopkins is if Cortez steps in during a ineffective slapping flurry.
gee, dont you think that way too bold for a prediction?:hey a bhop UD is all that im actually bargaining for.
Calz will win this fight on every honest person's scorecard but will lose the decision due to unbelievably corrupt judges...aided by El Cortez.
I can't believe how many are posting for a Hop win. If Joe had an average or shaky chin I could just about forgive you all. But he doesn't, his chin is at least good and I suspect actually it's a lot better than that. I've only seen him POSSIBLY in trouble once, and that was against a big puncher, late in the 12th when he knew he had it won and was going for the spectacular knockout against Chris Eubank. Also, when he's being careful he's hard to hit clean. Despite other factors, Joe wins this on workrate alone. Realistic now people, i'll say that word again... WORKRATE. Joe wins a comfortable decision. Whether or not that will be the RESULT though, remains to be seen.
