What can you guys tell me about McConnell, he fights Lee Selby for the Commonwealth title April 20th Blackpool England.

His level of opposition does not look great but he has won handily enough it would appear.

Selby is pretty good and I would envisage him getting to European Champion at least and he should definately get himself a world title shot at some stage and depending who he fights would be in with a shout.

He is awkward, punches with spite and just keeps the work rate up round after round, he draws leads pretty well and has a decent if not foolproof defence.

Would appreciate any comments on McConnell as it will be good to know how you guys view him

He'll get done as did Fletch. Way too early for him at this stage of his pro career

He'll be a harder fight for Selby than Okine was. Corey has good movement and probably better hand speed than Selby so it should be a good fight. While he hasn't fought someone like Selby as a pro yet, he did fight all around the world as an amateur and easily beat other prospects like Fleming and Brunkner as an amateur.

Also until he won his Commonwealth title, Selby hadn't fought great opposition either. I personally think that Corey is in with a shot here and should at least do better than Quon and Fletcher did in their Comm titile fights, as I don't think Selby is near as good as Frampton or Saunders.

I would give Brunker a big chance of beating Selby. His handlers have matched him with a good variety of imports. Surprising they didn't go looking for this fight.
To date McConnell's team haven't attempted to move him out of his comfort zone. It's quite a big step up to Selby. McConnell has good boxing skills . Here's hoping he can spring an upset.

Selby is going to mop the floor with McConnell....huge step up & massive difference in speed & class.

If Selby had the power to match his speed i would predict an early round stoppage. Probably a mid round stoppage instead IMO.

I'd put Selby in with Dib now judging by their last performances.

Selby by wide decision or late rounds stoppage after laying a serious beating on Brunker.

McConnell would have been better off facing some of the guys Selby has beat like Martin Lindsay or Stephen Smith.
