Berliner, any heavyweight blessed with naturally heavy hands would have more than just a right hand punch. Look at David Haye for example: he has a great right hand punch, but also a ram rod left jab and a deadly left hook. The same was true for Lewis, Tyson, Foreman, etc, etc. If you carry world class KO power, then it's nearly always with both hands. I could accept your injury problem for Helenius if he was dropping people with jabs and knocking them cold with left hooks, but the truth is he doesn't have world class power.
No professional athlete in any sport competes at 100% fitness. They all have aches, pains, pulled muscles, and various medical conditions at any given time, but most of them get on with it and don't spend their career blaming everything on injuries. Hellennius is ****, injury or no injury.
Exactly, Berliner knows this as he has back tracked quite rapidly. Started off saying Helenius was a real puncher, then it was "not a beast of a puncher" then by the end it was "a good puncher but below Haye and Wlad" all the while telling us his hands have been so brittle since debut that he's never really had the chance to prove it. He doesn't hit especially hard, he has no footwork, he's out of shape, doesn't throw good combos, slow and lumbering, bad hands, tactically pretty inept, and to top it off has a balding mullet hair cut. Of course if was 100% fit he'd be a match for anyone though!
What did I say anything else? I never said he is a great contender! But 100% fit, so without a broken hand or ****ed up shoulder, he is a good heavyweight! But some guys here just say he is awful and ****. And he really is a puncher. In his fighting style and also with his power. He may not have world class power (like HAye or Wladimir) but he has the power of a big man. Juts look up some fights like Brewster or Peter. If you cant see that he has power then I dont know what to say anymore.
I think you're giving him too much credit I'm afraid, you've said he has always had hand problems since his debut but it only seems to become an issue when he struggles in fights. Perhaps you're calling him a puncher as by your own admission he has NOTHING else other than one punch which he is mainly unable to throw. Perhaps he is a puncher above anything else because in every fight he goes in to he pretty much ONLY has a punchers chance as he can't box so a big punch is his only chance really. In heavyweight terms though, with people like David Price, Haye, Wlad, Vitali etc. I don't think he can really be termed a puncher, hand injury or no hand injury he hasn't KO'd enough opponents to be given that honour.
You keep claiming Charr KOs Haye - all I'm asking for is your reasoning behind this. Why can't you provide a breakdown of why you think this? Your boxing knowledge appears to be on par with your knowledge of London transport links :yep
He's a puncher in the way that Tyson Fury is a puncher, ie not bad but nothing special. Difference is that Fury is a fair puncher with both hands, whereas Helenius is a fair puncher with only his right, which is usually hampered by injury. BTW, Fury would beat Helenius, no doubt about it.
I think it's a fight specifically chosen to make fury look good on his American debut, his last fight was against Johnson who was a reasonable opponent so I'm not too fussed but he definitely needs to step it up again. A fight against helenius would be quite a good choice actually if his hand ever recovers, it's an easy sell as they're two of the biggest heavyweights around and fury would almost certainly beat him plus he's ranked fairly highly by some of the organisations.
Fury vs Helenius would be good. Fury wins this fight I think, but Fury seems not to have the best chin. Already dropped against Pajkic and hurt against featherfisted Firtha, Helenius has much more power than both of these guys. But Sauerland wont let this happen I think. They already said that they have to build Helenius up again after his injuries. For me he just should take a high risk fight. His injury problems wont get better by time although Sauerland thinks they can "fix it with special training for his right hand". Helenius wont make any big fights in the future.
Lots of Newbies in this thread. Have David and Adam made up aliases and joined the board? There was a proper fight to be made with Adamek which would have been interesting. Haye would obviously have been favourite. Still two old cruisers getting it on would have made for a good fight I reckon.
