this is kinda the way i see it. I do not weigh competition and activity as heavily as most on here. I only use it as an indicator of skill, and the way i see it floyd is still the most skill boxer in the biz. Ward is the next in line along with donaire, they will be fighting it out for p4p glory for years to come. However, right now, today . . . floyd is the best fighter on the planet. the best thing I can say about ward is that in his last two fights he was floydesque in the ring, the way he handled Froch was masterful.

I do not miss a fight when great fighters fight . . . if I can avoid it.

Anybody that pays for PPV's - especially non competitive ones - is merely funding the death of boxing.

$10, $20 should be the max charged - and that's for fights with a huge demand for them.

Obviously the current fighters want to maximise their income, but having expensive PPV;s that ultimately are disappointing, are killing the sport.

Less money for the top guys, and more the next level(s) down would encourage more guys to actually take up boxing, increase competition and increase TV coverage and exposure to the next generation of fans.

Even if the main event doesn't deliver (and I think it WILL), the card is pretty well rounded.

I know it's hip, fun, and trendy to be contrarian about ****, but I don't see how a boxing fan doesn't get up for this event.

Mayweather is defacto #1 simply by way of not being beaten. In the context of what he's done, not what he's doing. Ward may very well be the #1 guy at the moment. If you're splitting hairs between the two, it may very well come down to age - that's how close it is. If not age, most recent matchups, and - like you said - the Dawson win (not to mention super 6) is nothing to sneeze at. If Ward is #2, he's closer to #1 than anyone has been during Floyd's tenure there (I had Pacquiao at #1 when Floyd retired - right back to #2 as soon as Floyd announced his unretirement)
