Hatton would beat a lot of fighters at 140 right now. Would be fun to see him in with Matthysse, prime for prime.
Tszyu was not over the hill. Thats always the excuse when a fighter loses. If he won, you would have said that he is not over the hill. Hypocrite.
Ricky 'Hit & Hold' Hatton had A LOT of hometown fights with British referees and British Judges to bail him out. And like someone aid he never fought the top 2 people at the weight at the time anyway he was busy defending a WBU trinket :roflatsch He had a Glass Jaw and was brutally and embarrassingly exposed in America.
Well Hatton probably did better with fresher versions of all of their common opponents. As for the current crop, he'd stop Khan, box Garcia's lugs off, beat Peterson close on points and him vs. Matthyse would be a toss up.
Usually 6 or 7, in nearly everyone's top 10 but in very few people's top 5. I'll say one thing, he had a tougher run of fights than Froch and got no credit for it.
Was never the same after Mayweather. Mentally weak, but an absolute warrior in the ring. Would probably be took out by Rios, maybe even Katsidis. Would beat guys like Holt and Khan. Not sure about Bradley though.
Hatton, over-rated? If anything, he’s highly under-rated on here. He had great footwork that enabled him to close the distance quickly and decent pop in his punches. Hatton’s problem was a lack of discipline, realising too late that he had to focus on the defensive aspect of his game, and wasting considerable amount of time defending his WBU title against poor opponents in England. People always harp on about how he was knocked out in brutal fashion, the only reason that was the case was because of his 'brawling' style and the fact that he was prepared to throw the kitchen sink in order to gain a victory over both Pacquaio and Mayweather unlike other fighters who didn’t have the tools and weren't willing to take a chance, and so, were content with losing the fight on points [Mosley, Clottey etc]. It’s a shame he’s not around today, as the junior welterweight division is arguably the best division in boxing at the moment. Hatton would probably beat a lot of fighters currently at 140lb which includes fighters like Khan, Judah and Garcia. Might beat Peterson/Matthysse, however, think Rios would get the better of him.
American fans: Paulie will outbox the over-rated Hatton, jab and move, Hatton is too easy to hit and can't box Paul Malignaggi: "Hatton is a Euro level club fighter who couldn't handle it here in America" (note how half way through the HBO team even start making fun of Malignaggi, who had only lost to Cotto at this point, for his claims) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QkxSseNjqQ oh dear, what happened there?
seriously seriously hope you don't mean he'd be taken out by Rios or Katsidis in his prime at 140? **** off
