This was my first fight back since November (my first loss). Won it on points felt good on certain aspects but let myself down a lot on others.

Starting to get a much more natural, comfortable feel with my boxing and felt this showed a bit in my fight. A lot less stiff and this definitely helped with my fitness. It doesn't really come across on the video but he seemed to crumple every time I hit him with anything more than a jab so I started loading up a bit and looking for shots too much which let him tee off with his jab for portions of the fight.

    Anyway critique always appreciated :good

EDIT: thanks to Andy Dries @DownUnderBoxing for the quality of the video.

Congrats on the victory Matt. You certainly had some physical advantages in the fight, and as you say he didn't like being punched. Especially the body punches, if you could use a bit more head movement to land more body punches you would've had him crumpled in there early imo. How tall are you?

very nice movement in first round. if you did that movement in 2nd and 3rd he wouldnt hit you at all. its hard i know :)

work on a defense from jab, he was jabbing you too much in 2nd n 3rd. that were no power shots but someone who has stronger jab could make you a problems.

nice fight to watch, and of course, nice boxing from you for 4th match. i had only 1 and am still battling with stiffness and stamina. this was great!

I thought you lost that fight  As others have said learn some new techniques for dealing with a jab you seemed to get hit with everyone he threw bro!

Cheers mate. Yeah it was a nice change I moved back down to 75kg for this fight, the last two who were both over 80kg the lad I lost to now fights at 84. I'm pretty much bang on 6ft.

After I felt him wilt I started looking for big shots rather than working my way in which kind of ****ed me. Body punches are sort of my bread and butter I like to work the body a lot. Its annoying because my head movement is one of the things I've improved loads but that all went out the window until about the 3rd whcih was the first time I slipped a punch I think.
Cheers and good luck with it mate. If you aren't doing them already sprints, the difference they've made to my fitness is unreal and the fitter you are the more you can take out of training.

Just to note its a round based scoring system rather than points and the video doesn't really convey the difference in power shots.

Agree completely about the jabs there was a bit where I ate 5/6 in a row it was ridiculous, just spending too long waiting and looking for big shots rather than boxing my way in.

    thanks for the responses lads.

Even if it was questionable, take the Win(I didn't see the fight, can't find the link). Because there are gonna be times where u will get robbed. I lost 3 razor thin decisions so far, and received a razor thin decision in my favor. Take the fights, build the experience and keep truckin. BTW, how can I watch this?
