Yeah, Wlad has all the tools to be a great highlight reel fighter, dynamite in both hands and great athleticism. Watching him fight is like watching someone with a ferrari drive like an old lady! Ward's style of fighting is very much you either love it or hate it, but it will never appeal to casual fans. I don't like Ward's style, but I enjoy watching him fight, similar to Calzaghe, there's a lot of subtle brilliance in what he does, he's a master of controlling distance and his use of feints and ring generalship is great. The only time Ward hasn't had his way with an opponent was against Bika, who is just a bad match up for Ward. As great as he is though, I don't think he'll ever crossover like a Mayweather or Oscar
Beacker's a hard fight for anyone - just ask Calzaghe. Guy's a rough as ****, tough as an oak tree, unpredictable power punching monster
Why didn't Calzaghe fight any better names apart from his last four or five opponents? Personally, I don't think it's because he was avoiding them (I could be wrong, the 'fear of flying' excuse is a little weak, especially as he was always honking about not fighting in the US), but was it because the WBO wasn't as legit as it is now and he wasn't a target for big names? Or was it that he was unbeaten, wouldn't travel, and was seen as 'high-risk, low reward'?.
Beouche, Hi mate, yeah you're right, but he'd receive even more criticism than what he currently receives.
Hi mate, how's it going? I responded to you on that thread from the other day about Floyd and Roy, take a look if you have some free time http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?p=15115734#post15115734
