He can't beat 1/2 the guys in the top 10 of the UFC WW Division and he knows it. This is why he doesn't want any fights at WW. He has found himself in a shark tank, with alot more fame and noteriety than everyone not named GSP, but he hasn't "earned" it and he knows he can't. Which is why he's "retiring" and posturing for big fights only. I don't think he's confident that he can fight his way back to a title shot.
You should change the thread title to "My opinion on what Nick Diaz is thinking". No one gives a ****.
I'm not confident he will beat a row of Contenders either. The UFC of today is a different ballgame, and Nick Diaz is a relic. The best thing going for him is getting under people's skin. This is why Nate Diaz left Cesar Gracie, the Diaz Brothers don't have much of a future in this Sport. They will have to reinvent themselves. I'm with the OP, and I don't believe he should have to beat a row of Contenders to get another big fight. Maybe for a Title Fight, but let Anderson Silva light his ass up for a tune up if The Spider so chooses to. Otherwise, please stay retired.
I added a lot to that OP, but when I mentioned Nate I was referring to that style that the two share. The two brothers need a different set of trainers and partners if they are to reach new heights in this Sport.
Agreed. Both of them have awesome styles, but pretty one-dimensional. If you refuse to fight the way Nick Diaz wants you to, he basically sulks in the cage. :hat
If you can out strike guys like Cerrone, and sub guys like Jim Miller, you can't be called one dimensional.
He has good skills, but look at the Condit fight. Condit refused to either stand and trade, or go to the ground. And Diaz was quickly out of ideas for what to do with him. He just trailed Condit around the cage, soaking up strikes and trying to taunt Carlos into getting into a war with him. He was one-dimensional in the sense that he fought the 5th round in exactly the same way as he fought the 1st round, which was almost entirely on Condit's terms. :good :hat
Fair point. Diaz certainly doesn't strike you as having so much quality that he is anything but a top contender. His last 2 fights have shown that no matter how tough you are, the best force you to employ a plan A, B and C. Diaz clearly has no plan other than to goad his opponent pre/during the fight and hope they mindlessly brawl.
The truth about Diaz is he is a real fighter. Built to win real hand to hand combat situations. The best fighters at 170 would never win a real fight with Diaz. He would sub a boxer, sub a kick boxer, box up a bjj player and outlast a sterioded out point fighter like GSP. In real hand to hand combat no one is better. Truly the most dangerous man alive.
truth hurts, GSP is a steroid ****** winning on points, he isnt a real fighter. Great athelete, but he is scared to death of nick with no 5 minute rounds to save him.
