    Could this ever happen. Some boxing obsessed billionaire comes in and buys all 4 governing bodies . Orders some kind of unification tournament?

    You need a dedicated international commission to regulate the belt orgs.

    What would what stop another organisation simply starting up after the amalgamation? Forging strong ties with a particular promoter and fast tracking that promoters fighters to 'world title' fights.

    Same thing that stopped the IBO, WBU etc being recognized. You just have to get the major networks and the fans to buy into it.

    The only way to bypass all the politics is to legitimise the TBRB with lots of money, add major amounts to any significant fight.

    $25m is nothing for a billionaire. Sports teams spend that on players all the time let alone an organisation

    No one knows how much it's going to cos to buy out the likes of Jose Sulaiman for a start.

    And having one sanctioning body in this day and age would be terrible for fighters. It would be so easy to freeze talented guys who don't happen to be moneymakers out of the picture. Two would be ideal. Imagine how big a unification fight would be as well, if there were only 2 belts.

    Unfortunately the way boxing is I see a number of other orgs springing up if this ever happened. And over time they would gain legitimacy, just like the WBO have.

    In an ideal world it'd work but not in this world sadly.

    As mentioned, it wouldn't take long for something else to crop up. For example you buy them all but still can't get Mayweather and Pacquiao to fight each other. Pacquiao might be your "champion" but Floyd can just promote himself and another network would pick it up.

    Also like Ishy said a lot of boxers would get frozen out. You'd get a closed shop and guys that weren't popular or money makers wouldn't get the chances they'd deserve.

    Sadly there's no real way around the alphabet situation. For as much of a nuisance they are to fans, they're still vital in the way boxing is run and help so many boxers gain recognition and earn a living from the sport.

    The only real workable solution is, again as mentioned, for all the media sources in the world to legitimise the TBRB and only recognise that as the true champions.
