Idk if you guys listened to the advice Garcia was telling Nonito in between rounds, he was confused as f*ck and he didnt knew what to do. Nonito should have thrown way more punches and his mistake was fighting in a straight line, he gave Rigondeaux absolutely NO angles. HIGH props to "Chacal" he put on a beautiful boxing clinic.:happy "Filipino flash" got schooled so bad and he looked slow compared to Rigondeaux. Not because Nonito was slow, but because Rigo was so freaking fast! wow! Everyone that says this was a boring match: YDKSAB :-( It was an amazing high skilled boxing match and the real fans were the winners. This content is protected
I like Garcia but I think Donaire needs a proper trainer who will be there for the full camp. I know people will say Donaire was making excuses but it did genuinely seem like they hardly studied Rigo and they thought they just needed to land that one big shot and when things stated going wrong they didn't have a clue what to do.
Yeah, that was kinda frustrating. I was saying aloud that i wish i could be in there in the 10th round telling Nito what he needed to be doing differently I didn't think that garcia was offering up any solid advice.
Kellerman talked to Garcia halfway through the fight and he sounded absolutely clueless on how to change things. Just mentioned applying pressure, which Donaire had been doing since round 2.
garcia is a trainer of the year tho donaire fighter of the year these policitcal BS awards mean ZIP. nothing but propganda!
Rigo is just so good and professional. He wasn't fazed at all and was relaxed and won relatively easy.
Rigondeaux skill level is over both their heads....he need to have technical knowledge to beat fighters like rigo, may, ward, hopkins etc...
Tell me a fighter of Garcia with a nice jab. Other than his brother. Why can't Nonito set up his punches after a jab? He's usually the taller man. Just relaying on that monster hook.
I think they read the ESB forum and believed Rigo has a glass chin. No need to train. One punch there and he's out. Easy work.
he does'nt need a new trainer ...he needs to stay away from rigo , it's a bad style match up for him ... he should go for mares vs ponce winner if he wants to keep his relevance , which is gonna take some begging to arum ...
I was surprised at how there seemed to be no sense of urgency in Robert Garcia's voice as the fight pressed on. His fighter was clearly being outboxed and quite often tagged with big shots. I have always thought he was a very good trainer, but he didn't seem to give Donaire any real instructions on how to change the fight. He just kept saying "cut the ring off". Every time Donaire would attempt to cut the ring off, Rigondeaux would slip and counter. At the end of the day, it is the fighter who has to make the change and Nonito Donaire was clueless tonight. Guillermo Rigondeaux was like nothing Nonito Donaire had ever seen in the ring. A masterful boxing performance by the Cuban great.
No, he really needs a better trainer. He had the range advantage and size.. But not the speed, but he wasnt throwing any punches! He tried to pressure more in the last 3 rounds but come on! he had to do that since the first round. Even so... Rigo came prepared for anything, his boxing level is just very high. But anyways... Donaire got schooled. All props to Chacal. :deal
Donaire trains in the Bay Area while Garcia's gym is in Oxnard. Donaire needs to move closer to Garcia's gym if he wants him to be his head trainer.
I'm a fan of Robert but when his fighters lose he whines and claims the opponent was "running." Rigo did not pull a Narvaez. He had ND twisting and turning and eating right hooks and straight lefts. ND actually looked like Rios a few times. Rigo was supposed to get knocked out in the 2nd round according to Robert. Nice one, Rob.
