As a boxing fan, how did you feel about Donaire-Rigo?

i was entertained. very entertained. the fact that donaire has tremendous power made it that much more exciting. it was a good fight.

 

Proud to be able to know enough about the sport to realise that was an absolutely masterful display of ring generalship by Rigo whilst trying to stay calm about those imbecilic fans who booed.

 

Just as exciting as a Rios-Alvarado rematch for me, just on a different end of the scale. Two high-skilled boxers doing what they do best.

 

That is a very good point. Even though Rigo was busting that face up, there was the suspense just like - and especially after - Martinez-Chavez. This was sweet science at it's purest.

 

Loved it, it was intense and I was very nervous watching throughout.

We were watching Boxing on a ridiculously high level last night.

Went how I though, a technical slow fight. We knew deep down Ringo was a superior boxer. Donaire didn't know what he was getting into, thought he would just catch him n ko him at some point. Not a good game plan, he kinda knew because the excuses where coming long before the fight.

 

If only match-ups like these are made more often, boxing will be in a big boom.

Very fulfilling match, Rigo was amazing and a guy who idiots called the number 2 p4p guy lost very hyped, been a great year in boxing this included.

 

For some reason, I thought Nonito was younger than he was. I would otherwise have said that's a young, brash kid in there against a professor of boxing. It turns out Donaire is 30 and he's probably the best he's going to get. Changing trainer won't change his one-dimensional approach to fights lately---loading up hail maries. I didn't see a plan B or C from Donaire. I don't remember Nonito landing any combinations.

I was rooting for Rigo going in but, I thought Donaire would win by early stoppage. After watching Rigo nullify Donaire in the first round, I just knew the fight was going to be easy. It was as everyone who knows about boxing, styles make fights. An intelligent fighter with decent power will always beat a puncher who relies only on power. All Rigo had to do was avoid complacency and not let Nonito set and sit on his punches. Rigo is simply on another level.

It's too bad Rigo was confined to Cuba in his prime years. How good would this guy have been in his mid 20s? I believe we would be talking about him, Mayweather and the former Pacquiao as the best of this era.
