No, but he's definitely in the top 10.

Hopefully he fights the best opponents available rather than having one great win and then facing bus drivers for the next couple of years, like Donaire did after beating Vic.

 

I think he needs to prove it against a variety of opponents. He looked excellent last night but he has disappointed in the past, such as against Cordoba a couple of years ago or recently against Marroquin, and it'll be interesting to see him against other quality opponents in the future. Could Mares test him? What about Ponce De Leon? Maybe Santa Cruz? Those three are all different stylistically and whilst I think Rigo would beat them, he needs to prove that in the ring.

Beating Donaire was excellent but I do think it was a poor styles match up for Donaire in hindsight. I also think he's been struggling at the weight for a while now, so whilst I was very impressed with Rigo, there are questions about Donaire last night too. I think there's probably truth to what he said about his shoulder and there are major issues with his preparation because he rarely sees Garcia and didn't train for Rigo.

I'd actually like to see a rematch between those two at 126 in the future. For now though, I hope Rigo faces some other elite opponents in the division and I'm confident he'll solidify his position amongst the best in the world.

Right now, I'd have Rigo in the top 10. He's very impressive.

 

what rigo did was special considering it was his 12th fight. he is too old to spend years at the top but it is clear that had he turned pro sooner he could have had an amazing pro career.

 

He's not number 1 because of a epic display. The complaint before last night was the average level of opposition he had been facing although he had some notable names not anything major.

He can now press home the advantage this year with activity and top level wins and get into top 5 because for me he's still not in top 5. Massive win, the performance as well gets him near to it but got to do a bit more then have one massive win and few decent ones.

If Rigo can beat one of the Belt holders at Featherweight especially Mikey Garcia or the winner of Mares-De Leon then i might have to move him to the number 1 spot.

And Rigo, taking into account his crazy success as an amateur, then the style with which he took apart a fighter whom many considered to be stonewall top 5 P4P might just be the best boxer in the world right now.

I actually had him in the top 10 after the Ramos win. It was clear then he is simply different gravy.

You dont need an extended period at the top or multiple victories over top guys.. P4P rankings are entirely mythical, there is no set criteria, its a simple case of, if you think he is the best, then rank him as the best.

Personally I dont think the win was enough for me to rank him no1. Just like you, id like to see more of him, but unlike you, Im not so closed minded as to think anyone who does rank him as the best is a ******!

There isn't another fighter in the world that could beat him, ergo, he must be number one in the world. That's the best way to rank fighters. Cherry picking, politics, paper world titles have all but deemed the conventional way to rank fighters redundant. Froch is considered top 10 p4p, yet I could list at least 20 fighters that would school the **** out of him. It's a **** way to rank.

You could quite easily say the same about Mayweather, Wlad etc. There's no one who could beat him at his weight (probably true but not a fact) so when you're looking at Pound for Pound there's other factors involved.

Records and who you have beaten should be the determining factors in ranking fighters. And Donaire aside, Rigondeaux's is shallow abd doesn't match up to Mayweather or Marquez's. So no, he's not p4p no.1.

 

Last nights win was so good that it deserves to catapult him straight into the top ten - which for somebody with for somebody with only 12 pro fights is remarkable.

I suspect on head to head ability around his weightclass he's actually top 5 P4P though, just hasn''t quite done enough for me to put him there yet. I expect him to be in most peoples top 3 or 4 within the next year.
