Donaire: hard to make the weight, didn’t study the fight well, tore ligaments injury

his comments were surprising a little and upset the crowd. Had he won by 2nd round knockout he would have said he felt great and is moving up in weight. He does what all fighters do, it is not uncommon. Even my favorite fighter Tommy saying his legs were massaged before Hagler , and this was some sort of an excuse. Valid? Well maybe it did weaken his legs, but why were those guys not massaging his legs before Duran or Benitez? Why before Hagler?

 

In regards to his right eye scene Donaire said "I definitely had trouble seeing out of my right eye. I think I might have caught a thumb first, but those things happen." Anyone see a thumb to the eye?

 

Donaire was VERY TENTATIVE after their exchanges in the first couple rounds...

I think he just plain dismissed and underestimated Rigondeaux's power, speed, and punching prowess

 

The irony is that alot of ESB posters thought that Rigondeaux was a hype job...

 

no... they type of glove Rigondeaux was wearing pretty much prevents that from happening...

doesn't help when most of the commentators were pre-creating excuses and outs for him down the stretch in the first place...

 

I knew he was fast, but I studied his fights more on tape and looked at his record and realized he might do ok.. And I also noticed Donaires recent opponent were older and slower, but this guy Rigo was fast, and Donaire might end up having big problems. But I still was not convinced he could beat Donaire, who was wiping guys out with that counter left recently.
