Anybody become a fan of Rigo after last night?

I've been a fan, but am more encouraged about the prospect of excitement in the top levels of the sport for the coming decade, with the current top dogs ageing so rapidly.

yes, i knew he was good, but beating a dangerous top fighter like Donaire on only his 12th fight deserves a lot of respect

I was already a fan, I was simply hoping for a good fight and didn't favor either guy, I thought Donaire was going to win by countering a counter with a two-punch combination and would carry on being a rising star, but Rigo showed he's good enough to keep schooling and knocking fighters out and generating buzz. He just made me even more excited to watch him progressed. The ceiling I thought was there isn't.

Every time fans boo I want to punch them in the throat.

 

no and I would only have interest if the context of who the opponent is Rigo is not exciting and watching him vs an overmatched opponent would be like watching paint dry.

Why criticize the KLITS yet wax lyrical about what Rio does.

 

Haven't seen the fight yet, but would you describe Donaire as being overmatched before the fight happened?

 

I was a fan before this, but seeing what he did last night was impressive. Although I would like to see him throw more punches, what he does is so impressive he can get away with throwing minimal punches

 

Not a fan of his style at all....running should be scored against you in a fight, even if your schooling your opponent.

One thing is for sure he can definitely stink up a fight. I watched the whole thing intently hoping for excitement and only got 1 knockdown and a 12th round. Not much else save the 10-11th where nonito tried to pick up the pace even at his own risk.

Guillemo isn't a fan friendly product. He is however likely the best around his weight atm. it's guys like him that ruin the lower weight classes for fans. Nonito actually made those sub FW fights a little exciting.

 

I wouldn't say this fight made me a fan even though I'm more of a fan of boxers than brawlers Rigo's spoiling style at time loss my interest, he did however gain my respect his ability to stick to the game plan, his perfect control of distance, and sharp counters are second to none sub 135 I thought my boy Donaire was going to take it to him even got half way excited when he got the knock down in rd 10.

Don't care if he's hated as long he gets respect he always deserved.Turned a lot of haters into bandwagon fan bois I see...

 

I admire him but don't like him. He could have been bolder and could have came to fight. He did enough to win and I never liked those kinds of fighters. His speed is sick though. Maybe the fastest ever.
