to the people asking why was Rigo rolling on the ground during his training video, you're seeing the result of that here

Re-watching the fight now just got to this part and realised it was this gif, the sound it makes when it lands is mad, alot of people would have gone down or at least been badly hurt from that shot

Rigo did get hit by a strong left, albeit it was dirty and off a clinch. But he got up and just started landing some big left hand bombs on donaire right after getting back up. Rigo has got a pretty damn good chin if he can take a southpaw left from donaire. (because donaire is actually left-handed)

That's exactly what I was thinking. Never focused on the counter by Rigo. He really thought that one punch was going to seal the deal.

I'm disappointed, because I'm a Donaire fan, but I knew Rigondeaux was going to be a tough test.

I'm not sure how Donaire could win a rematch, either. His best shot would be to land a big, powerful counter and end the fight right there, or at least hurt Rigondeaux enough to finish him afterwards. It looked like he was trying to do exactly that throughout the fight though, but Rigondeaux is just very evasive and difficult to find on the outside. It's no surprise, as the amateurs are all about outside boxing -- at that range, Rigondeaux can see everything coming and knows exactly how to deal with it. I think he'd struggle more with inside fighting and rough tactics...it's no coincidence that Donaire was finally able to knock him down when they were in clinching range, and Donaire made a little space for himself on the inside and then let a big power punch go. The problem is that Donaire isn't the kind of fighter who can really do that consistently...he likes to wait, lure people in, and then catch them with his left-hook. Rigondeaux is far too quick and careful to fall into that trap.

This is what happen when you put too emphases how hard a fighter punches.. Typical reaction with a boxer who relies too much on punching power, and not enough on all around skill .. They have no clue what to do when their punches have no effect on their opponent, especially when the opponent is suppose to have a glass jaw.

Donair plan B was just to swing harder :patsch like that was actually going to work.

Hmmm .. I thought those rolling excercises were hilarious and fankly stupid. But, now come to think I remember having to do that **** in officer school during games. If you want to know what disoriented feels like do many of those rolls in succession and your equilibrium will be off. Just as gymnasts can build a tolerance to equilibrium effects I wonder if that helped Rigo improve his so called chin.
