You can say that about Mexicans who will follow their own win or lose....well except Miguel Vasquez lol.
Donaire was failing to pack HDC and Madison Square Garden before this fight. Filipinos only jumped on the wagon because Pac got KO'd. They gave two shits about him before that.
Rigondeaux has entrusted Arum to guide his career, and it's Arum's job to make him a star. Even if he never fights outside of South Florida again.
I ****ing hate boxing fans that can't appreciate some SKILL and real technical ability. The ones that just want wars all the time. Don't get me wrong, a back and forth war is my favorite type of match. I need variety. If I watched wars all the time and no chessmatches it would be like eating the same food all the time. I would get sick of it. Rigo was beautiful to watch. I feel bad for anyone that can't enjoy Rigo's craft.
Cos that would make too much sense apparently. Looking at Rigo and Gamboa (I know Gamboa's with #TMT now but looking at his time with Arum too), the last time they fought in Florida was in 2010 for Rigo and 2009 for Gamboa. Looking at their careers thus far, Rigo has only fought in Florida 3 times in 12 fights and Gamboa only 3 times in 22 fights. Rigo is the only one out of the two who has ever fought in Miami though. The one out of two locations that are Cuban strongholds (The other being Northern New Jersey) and they've only fought in one of them a combined 6 times. Arum either has an extreme lack of knowledge on where to market Cubans or he just dks period. atsch
No they don't Filipino fans jump on winning bandwagons just like anyone else. Look what happened to Brian Viloria, Rey Bautista, Bernabe Concepcion, Gerry Panalosa, Jimrex Jaca, etc. After all suffered devasting losses. Not a peep from any of the "loyal" pinoy fans. Hell Viloria's fight with Hernan Marquez wasn't even televised . Thats how little filipinos gave a **** about him after his losses. The loss is worse for Donaire. Because unlike Pacquiao, Donaire hasn't had a win that drew interest from the public. Like Pacquiao did when he beat Barrera out of no where. He needed a big win against Rigondeaux to live up to all the hype HBO and Top Rank was placing on him.
noboby will come watch fights in Flordia, just like how mma failed with Florida. Its a football state like texas
Nobody will watch what isn't there. If they were to actually have him fight and build up his name to the local fan-base, tickets would sell like hotcakes. There's a reason that Mexicans always fight in Cali and Texas throughout their careers, the fan-base that they built during the time they started out.
