Incidentally, whoever cares- at 1:20 to 1:19 on the top rank clock (which would be 2:12 on this youtube video), that is when Hagler was cut. I figured it out watching it just a couple of times some years back. Tommy was tired and he was breathing out of his mouthpiece so his mouthpiece was sticking out to help his breathing, and Marvin was throwing a right to the body the same time Hearns was on the inside, and since Hearns was taller, his mouth level was at Marvin's forehead level, and Marvin's forehead rubbed against Hearns mouthpiece. The friction of that rubbing added to it both guys were throwing right hands to the body caused the gash.

    Now that was a scrap.

Thats what boxing needs and lacks today.

Not a ****ing snooze fest that was yesterdays fight.

    That is boxing.

I think it will happen again ,but it will be as unexpected as Hagler/Hearns was. I don't think anyone predicted that sort of fight.

Well people knew it was going to be a good fight, both insulted each other in the build-up, there was a real dislike there, not just PR and both predicted early knockouts...

It was a great great fight though the boxing purists on here probably think it was the most boring fight ever

I wasn't even swimming around in Dad's sack yet. Time really does go.

    Epic fight, ATG fighters.

Ironically, that day was a Monday. This was before my time, so I never really understood why they had big fights like this on Monday nights. If someone can fill me in, that would be great!

I don't understand either. Maybe to build up the fight in the media on the weekend for the Monday fight. And people came to the fights and ordered them. Nowadays they would have the fight on a Sat. Today it does seem odd to have a fight on a Monday night.

That was just a fight that casual Boxing fans like. People that like a fight like that DKSAB. No skill involved like the Rigo fight this past weekend.

I was a youngster (9 years old) but remember my dad and his friends being stoked about this fight. I've watched it dozens of times since and it never gets old. One of my earliest boxing memories.
