Hi, I was watching lee purdy fight a while back and they mentioned he'd gone pro without any amateur fights. Also know Johnny nelson went pro with a 3-10 record. This prospect would some completely alien over here in Dublin few gyms i've been too are stuck in a time warp, reckon you need to start boxing by around 8yrs old to get anywhere, i'm looking at moving over to London for a change of scenery things a bit stagnant around here, i'm 26 and some gym's over here are packed or just ask your record and don't accept some people, i've had a few exhibition fights and one amateur fight. But i'd love to fight as pro with the longer rounds and no headguards, less of the constant bouncing in and out it's not really suited to my style. Have been in and out of gym's for years, was just wondering if anyone could recommend any gym's in London that might give us a look?

  2. Its normally more commonplace with heavier weights dillian whyte and gary cornish have very limited experience but then if you watch it it is noticable, their athleticism and power means they can learn on the job against nobodies.
I am at novice level as well and wouldnt dream of trying a professional gym but good luck to you with hard work you can achieve anything.

    Thanks for the responses,

I seen Johnny Eames on Bunce's boxing hour about half a year ago , I heard him say he never turns anyone away and gives them a trial but then they've signed this deal with those guys from Abu Dhabi and i've private messaged him on his facebook account asking him if I go and try out but I got no response and thought maybe since they've now got such heavy backing and are a lot busier this was off the table?

TKO's great because you get plenty of sparring with decent/good fighters. But end of the day if you're a good fight you're a good fighter and they will see it and take you on mostly.

Ibox gym in Bromley might worth a look. @iBoxGym isworth a look. Message the gyms and get a feel for the gyms. Don't jump in to quickly. Sometimes people will get used and abused and you don't want to be stuck in sparring over you're head and matched badly or have training that doesn't suit you're needs etc.

Just make sure you go with people who have you're best interests at heart.

Good luck mate, Sure you will do well.
