Did any of you felt akward watching BJJ/Groundgame for the first time?

I kinda know what your getting it & yeah it did kinda look odd.

Except for Olympic wrestling which was a very controlled sport, the first time I saw BJJ or any kind of grappling was in the NHB stuff in the early 90s and it did look very very odd. I didn't really like it but I did respect its practicalities. Thats kind how I viewed UFC and NHB back then more of a practical experiment than a sport.

Not that I've had many street fights in my life, I haven't, but in the few I've had the floor became inevitable, so I recognised its effectiveness. Hence I kinda watched a bit of NHB and early UFC out of a kinda fascinated interest. It never gave me the urge to try it or follow it, (felt way too alien to me) although now I have nothing but full respect for the sport.

When I went into the BJJ dojo and started learning all the positions, I was like "Eh, I just want to know how to do the armbar, do I have to put the guy between my legs??"

 

I never liked Jui Jitsu or Wrestling until I tried them! then I was hooked.

Began with Kick Boxing then Boxing.

 

Two Contenders that I hardly know in full guard for a round, or three rounds? Yeah, I may change the channel. But, if it's a fighter that I care about then I'm pretty much glued to the T.V.

 

I actually tried JJ before i got into boxing mostly cuz i was 7 years old and boxing wasnt suited for a child my age well that was what my mom told me.
Tho i didnt do it for long or have any major desire to go back to it i still have my respect for the sport

Nop...even though I still don't get everything now I always knew there was a reason for that, so it was no biggy for me !

i grew up wrestling and judo so i from before i knew shyte about shyte had dudes crotchs in my face and seriously never thought about it, if anything funny would of gone on i would of noticed it, lol, i mean im not that ****ing stupid, ive wreslted with the girls and when someone is getting turned on its quite different then a ego comp of spiritual wills,,,,

that said i recall wrestling with a buddy when i was 20 in a serious way and having other buddies call us ***s because we locked up on the ground, lol so i know where yee coming from,,,,,,,put it this way, if your YOUNG and you had your big brother pin the shyte out of you and make you say uncle many times over since birth basically then have some guy dominate you in a health match is no big deal, its like getting thrashed by a great tennis player that you cant return his serve,, each time you keep coming back just to return more and more of his serves just for the challenge of getting less thrashed, its no big deal, however , if you have NEVER been PINNED and then some guy gets you down infront of everyone and YOU cant move and he has total control over you, well if you have a problem with that then you prolly shouldnt be in mma and grappling sports until you figure out if your gay or not, lol, ok im half joking, totally cool with gay, i would even spar a gay dude if he simply turned off towards me, NO PROBLEM, if he wasnt eye balling my crotch i would not even consider it ,

now bring in a gal, well a gal on the wresling team wanted to go me at a party after i went a few of the dudes all in good but energetic rowdy fun and i started out light, she got position on me, i tried to not look like i was trying and unwittingly she took my feet out and all my buddies cheered and jeered me, well not because of them but when she held me down i started getting a ****ing boner for **** sakes,

mind you i ended up pinning and ****ing her later but she could of submitted anytime and she refused so thats on her
