I didn't understand why so many people were writing Rigo off, even from the the relatively little I had seen of him it was clear that he was a seriously class act. I said this in the lead up to the fight in a thread where there seemed to be group-think mentality writing him off, no logic or dissection of the actual styles and abilities involved. I guessed at an even fight due to relatively little experience watching either fighter, but I wasn't surprised by the eventual outcome. I think this is an excellent win for Rigo and rightly should propel him into the limelight, but I had always thought that Donaire's resume was a bit overrated (not that he had many better options. This isn't revisionist - check out my posts if you wish), which I got flak for despite believing him to be an excellent talent. So I never agreed with positioning him so high in P4P lists - it's a similar situation to what is starting to happen with Broner who is climbing far too high with too few relevant results. This means that I don't think it should put Rigo too high up the P4P list, but he definitely should get a lot of credit and I hope that it helps him move onto bigger things.
Haha I enjoy the klitschkos as well. I watch all fighters and don't really have one I hate. I enjoy the art of everything.
So Rigo's marketable after all? All Bob needs to do is look up ESB after a fight. The General has spoken - we want more Rigondeaux and we want more Rigondeaux soon!
I think the biggest contention is that he was unproven on the A Class level... and alot of peeps were being reserved and holding their breaths UNTIL he proved himself... True he was also trolled and hated on what small hype there was about him here.... Im a verifiable Rigondeaux fan BEFORE the Donaire fight. Im sure Kid Cuba can vouch for my posts of Riggy fanship, anytime he created a Rigondeaux thread which was mostly trolled on... I had Donaire with a good chance of stopping Rigondeaux with a big punch, based on Rigo's performance vs Marroquin. Pretty reasonable conclusion. But i also had Rigondeaux winning a Unanimous Decision if it went 12 rounds too. Didnt expect him to literally smoke out Donaire though! Admittedly, this performance has impressed everyone, because he dominated a bigger fighter who had been the P4P best fighter in the weight division, who had been whomping everyone. Its like a Donaire/Darchinyan all over (i mean not literally for pete's sakes, so dont go crazy with that)....
