I used to think about this too, but I started thinking about it from the fighter's standpoint and maybe they're fortunate to get the opportunity and the paydays. Plus most boxers are very confident as it is and may think they could win. For example, I was thinking about how they fed J. Lopez to Ortiz and then Canelo hoping he'll lose. But maybe Lopez was very fortunate to get the money and opportunity to fight them. From a fan's perspective, we know what's up, but maybe the fighters don't see it that way
Considering the Bobfather turned his back on him ever since he won, Rigo should tell him to go **** himself and leave for another promoter, be it GBP or not.
Its great for the fighters, no doubt. I guess it is what it is. Promoters trying to make money while some fighters strike gold.
I wonder who in the hell Top Rank will match him with to fill out the current contract, especially if they have no long term interests, which they appear not to by Arums' reaction (not that it means too much, but still odd). I think he should go to Golden Boy because I think GB is the better promoter of the two. Seems like a greater depth of names. I've got to be honest, of everything listed on the first post, I have a few observations: 1) Gary Russell and Mikey Garcia would probably have the best chance, 2) I wouldn't give Ponce more than a puncher's chance, 3) Rigondeaux/Moreno would be the worst style clash ever, 4) I really don't see Mares being competitive, and he wouldn't even have a puncher's chance, 6) pretty dominant future against the top guys at 122-126 as long as the size jump doesn't do him horribly wrong.
